If it is Sat or Sat night I'd miss local footy. I'd rather miss a day of work.

This will be met with some average responses but if the SANFL members were polled on the preferred timeslots for AFL footy what would the response be. For most the answer would have to be not on a Saturday. (Actually many would prob answer not at all).

Yeah would be an interesting poll, as an SANFL only supporter I accept we have to revolve around and not try and compete with the AFL fixture.

I would like to see the SANFL a little more creative with its fixture, in saying that a Central Norwood 12pm start is terrible for me, love having a meal before or after the game in the club, but timeslot is really awkward for doing that.

I would guess Friday night would be the preferred timeslot, but without multiple games at the same time it doesn't leave many opportunities for the clubs. I wonder if the AFL would ever consider 2 games on a Friday night, as they do on a Sat night?

The NRL has played 2 friday night games for years but Dimwitriou is dead against it. Hopefully with a change at the top at end of year this would be considered

Monday Night Football. Perfect for Melbourne, bulldogs, North, St kilda, Geelong (now they have lights), Suns, Port and GWS.

I though the bloods culture was from the South Melbourne days when they won 0 premierships in 70+ years.

So did 12 teams play finals in 2009? or is your swans history book different to the AFL's?

Could they alienate families anymore!!

thursday night footy is awesome. would love for the crows to make that a regular thing.

you say it might alienate families, but it is only a few times a year. either the kids get a treat and stay up later on a thursday a few times a year, or they dont go to those games. doubt it will have too much effect.

thursday night games are awesome, the only problem is it makes thursday feel like a friday, and you get on the beers one day too early and then realise you have to work the next day :(

Yeah fair point. It's a double edged sword in that aspect.

Still worth a try....

Dunno TSG maybe you can run a survey.

How many Sydney siders would rather a Rugby League or Soccer Ball for Xmas than an AFL football?

i for one would love to see this kind of thing introduced here...

look at the EPL and listen to their crowds chanting. It sounds amazing when they all start with the same chant. do you reckon they just wing it or have organised 'practice' sessions to nut out new chants?!?

a bit of tall poppy syndrome creeping in here methinks...

Nope, the fact that soccer relies on the crowd to create the atmosphere semonstrates why it is a 2nd rate sport.

It is the action on the field that creates the atmosphere and gets the crowd involved.

Truly cringeworthy.

Just when you thought the 19th man noise-o-meter couldn't be topped....

reinforces why I am an ex- Adelaide FC member

In fairness though its not much different to AFL clubs having to create a match day experience, with big screen tv, pre game and half time entertainment, fully covered stadiums, state of the art facilities just so people will actually go.

So no other sports have big screens???
Auskick is the half time entertainment.... Damn those kids learning our game
AFL must be the only league in the world who has first class stadiums...

C'mon mate, you can do better then that
