Just heard Milne has been charged with 4 counts of rape from 2004.

Agreed, they have set a precedent.

Interesting comments by the police. Basically reopened the case and charges due to an investigation finding the initial investigation was "inadequate". I would imagine legal counsel would be all over that type of comment.

St kilda should sack him. Only saving grace is that it is nine years after the fact.
The officer at the time (2004) allegedly had a part time job with the saints. Whoops.

Lucky it's taken the cops 10 years to get their act together. Should have a reasonable amount of coin to mount some sort of defence now.

I'm not sure of the outcome of Lovett's case against the Saints but i would think the outcome of that would determine what action(if any) they take against Milne in this instance.

Didn't Lovett come to the Saints with a history of incidents at Essendon and then had a clause if any more indiscretions happen he could/would be sacked?

Innocent until proven guilty, surely they can't sack him yet?

Football Clubs all over AUS and in different codes have always tried to dilute issues such as this involving players through their "legal" and Police contacts including "buying off" victims and witnesses.

One of the great small forwards to have played the game (laugh if you like), but will obviously be severely tainted, rightly or wrongly. I guess we'll find out soon enough. Closure one way or the other is needed, been dragging on for too many years.

Didn't like the way the club handled Lovett. Thought they were too heavy handed, although it appeared to be a player driven dismissal as much as anything.

Doesn't look good on the surface for Milne.
