I would say we would need to play at our maximum best to win but i dont think we have any chance of doing that, atleast for four quarters.

Really surprised that Neade is being rested this week as I think our leg speed may be an advantage against the Cats back 6 its probably their only weakness.

I rate Geelong as high as any other side in the comp I just hope were not out of the game at 1/4 time! For mine if we can stay with them early on it will go a long way to stealing the points I seen we are $6 for the win I was shocked to see $6 but hey there the pros not me.

Geelong 12-24

Agree with Neade having a rest, mentioned it in the wrap up of the Carlton game. Although his pace may be an asset against the Cats back half, but I think Monfries and Wingard offer enough of that up front.

Thomas has been burning for Norwood and we need some more muscle around to help shake the tag off Boak and Hartlett. I'd say that will be his role around the ball, to block and create space.

I cant see us beating them but we need to do a couple of things better.

We have to start on pace. We stole the games off Adelaide and the Eagles and have let North, Richmond and Carlton get away early and couldnt catch them.

Geelongs midfield rely on reading the ball off the opposition ruckman and they simply dont have one. Redden and Lobbe can expect to get hands on the ball first, they must, they simply must have "hit-outs to advantage" as their focus.

Bring in Hombsch to add another tall to the back half. Really missing Trengove and Pittard ( who plays taller than he actually is ) so Hombsch needs to be blooded. Looks the goods so lets get him in there.

Neade and O'Shea out. Thomas and Hombsch in.

Cats 21-30

Then, go to Darwin and beat the Bulldogs. Have a rest and beat GWS before a stinker of a month. 5-3 now, 5-4 after Geelong, 6-4 after Bulldogs, 7-4 after GWS. Then we get Sydney here, Collingwood here, Essendon away, Hawthorn here then St. Kilda. Looks like we will be 8-8 with Brisbane, Adelaide, Geelong, Gold Coast and Carlton.

8-8
9-8 over Brisbane
10-8 over Adelaide
10-9 after Geelong
11-9 over Gold Coast ( or 10-10 with a loss to Adelaide )

I think we'll need to beat Carlton in the last game at Footy Park to make it 11 or 12 wins.

Forgot about Dom's hammy. The ex-skipper took time to break back into the side and a month off right now will mean he has 4 weeks off and probably 1-2 with Westies on the way back.

Thats 6-7 weeks from now and with it unlikley he plays on next year, will we see him back?

Butcher needs to learn how to kick if he is going to play forward. His 2 set shots at goal were simply embarrassing.

The entire port side kicking is shocking at the moment

How in the hell did he kick 10 goals in his first 2 AFL games ?
That was 2 years ago.
You'd think he'd be a better player now but obviously isn't the case.
How do players get to AFL level when their kicking is shizenhousen?

His day could have been so different. Kick the two set shots he had, take the absolute sitter he dropped and the Southern end and goal, snap the one he had on the run. Could have kicked 4 without too much trouble, if he could kick.

His ball drop and action hasn't changed, but his confidence clearly has eroded.

The question is, do they drop him this week? Perhaps Salter after 4 and 6 goals might be in line for a recall?

listening to hinkley press conference after the game he was impressed with his effort, just his kicking let him down. I would think he would get another game this week, hopefully get the nerves out of his system and can put a few on the board. He's also not the only one with kicking issues at the moment we've got a few that are struggling to kick straight and it's costing us badly. hopefully the boys can have a good week on the track and have a good game this week.
