Neeld sacked

Postby Lightning McQueen » Mon May 13, 2013 3:36 pm

I hear Melbourne supporters questioning Neeld's longevity at the helm, what are other peoples thoughts?

I'll go Round 11 v the Pies so the new coach gets two weeks to try and sort out the mess.

I think they'll let him see the season out, actually.

I think after a second loss to the Gold Coast. It might possibly include a loss to GWS the week before.

- Neil Craig - Director Of Sports Performance
- Josh Mahoney – Football Manager
- Brian Royal - Midfield Coach
- Aaron Greaves – Midfield Development Coach

Melbourne have the potential to lose 6 of their next 8 games by 100 points or more.

Richmond, Freo in Perth, Collingwood, Hawthorn then a 2 week breather followed by Sydney and Geelong.

If survives till the breather it'll be after the Geelong flogging - history may repeat itself here.

Jade Rawlings would be my choice for a caretaker role

Todd Viney to take over for remainder of year.
Dont think they can afford a gun coach next year so I cam see someone like Matthew Knights getting the job

I think the question should be "who wants the Melbourne job?"

It'll be a lot like the Port position, where candidates were pulling out to take lesser roles at other clubs. Only a lot worse...

Demetriou may deny it but I can see the AFL offering up a large cash sum to attract a coach.
Chocco would be good for them but I reckon he has Hardwicks job insight if Richmond dont make finals.

Melbourne
Despite how poor they are ATM, they are still a club steeped with plenty of history, have their home ground at the home of football and play in a football mad city. Give me that anyday over a bunch of rugby rednecks.
With a decent coach and some decent recruiting Melbourne could turn it around in 2-3 years. Some of their players are better than they are showing, quite obvious they are trying yo get Neeld sacked.
In reality neither of Melbourne or Brisbane will play finals in the next 4-5 years
