Does it matter NOOOOOOO!!! All you can do is win who the AFL fixture you up against. Which they have done very well.

What they have done is set themselves up very nicely for a crack at the finals and IF they do make the finals the last thing the Power supporters will doing is comparing their draw to the Crows.

Thats why i prefer the way European soccer is fixtured where you play every team twice once at home once away, no soft draws etc etc exsist.

I guess they can as soccer isn't as taxing physically.

European soccer is great...you always know the winners will come from one of 5 clubs. Those clubs never change either.

But at least u know they were the best team because of their talent not the draw they were handed, it's a non discussion point in soccer. The five teams do change................when some billionaire buys another club

Isnt that the same as the AFL cough cough Sydney ;)

Both the EPL and AFL have had 3 different winners in the last 5 years.

I can definatly see why some people dont like how soccer works but i was focusing more on the draw being alot more even and not contrived simply for t.v ratings unlike the AFL.

Whats wrong with that, we are not communists.
Its up to the poorer clubs to get better not drag the rich clubs down to their level by introducing drafts and salary caps

How about the last 20 years?

yep.

Man U, Man City, Chelsea, Blackburn Rovers (fluke) --- runners up don't vary from these teams too much either with only Liverpool (big budget) and Aston Villa in 1993 joining the list.

Comparing this to AFL we find

Adelaide, Brisbane, Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon, Melbourne, North Melbourne, Geelong, West Coast, Port Adelaide, St Kilda, Hawthorn and Sydney have all won or at least made the grand final.

LOL if you go back through to 1900, you will find there have been 23 teams to win england div1 football. I bet the VFL/AFL has less than that ;)

This is off topic anyways

How good have the POOOOOWDDDDDDDDER been!!!

Arsenal team (transfer value) > £50million
Bradford City = £7500

Don't always need a big backer... heart will do...

Just so people know as well i wasnt comparing the two as sports just merely the way the fixtures are done.
imho home and away fixtures are ideal in any sport and are clearly the best way to determine a ladder at the end of a season with no teams getting a pre determined advantage.

Its a pointless debate football people will prefer football and soccer people will prefer soccer there is no right or wrong answer its purely a personal opinion and no one will change anyones minds.

Imho both have different skills/aspects which i love to watch but involve completely different abilites and skills sets.

But you know it's not possible in the afl to have a "fair" fixture.
