I am really worried where the club is going with this coaching appointment. They have progressively failed in their quests to get Eade, Ratten and now Cameron.
Assistant coaches who can't get a senior gig anywhere, namely Richardson & Hinkley, are NOT the answer.
The ONLY sensible candidate now is Bassett, his record running a whole football department is exceptional, even though it is not at AFL level - it is a fair schooling and there will be plenty of experience around to help him out.
This could be really silly sounding, and yes I know he is an assistant at Richmond - but now there is a new board at Alberton, it may be time to approach Chocco, at least before they appoint one of the 2 clowns I mentioned above.
PAFC have support and attendance issues at the moment, just watch what will happen if they appoint the wrong coach and don't improve rapidly........

I would doubt they "failed" with Ratten. More likely he was saving face when he and the club realised he wasn't the right fit.
Bassett would be ok, but I would probably prefer Hinkley who I think is now the best option.

Maybe with Ratten, but if Port moved quicker, they could have had him. Should have signed him the day he got the arse from Carlton, whilst he was still hot.
If Hinkley is the best option we may as well close the doors now, he's been trying to get a senior role since Jesus was in the manger and can't. Doesn't that tell us something?

I'm not sure that Ratten would be any better than any of the other candidates who have been in the running at various times.

Ratten presented poorly so wouldn't have gotten the job anyway. The club said no to Eade. Cameron would rather stay an assistant for another year than be a senior coach.
Ignore the media, they are constantly making things up

I don't think he would be. He has to serve at least 3-4 years in the AFL system as an Assistant before any club in its right mind would even consider him.

Fair to say it isnt one of X-Runna's better posts.
In saying that though- Hinkley (rightfully so) should be pleased with this season, but he would be well aware that his success level will be judged on premierships.
Exciting times ahead I hope!

Tail between my legs, I was so wrong.Super impressive season by Hinkley, so I am going to ask a rhetorical question. Why wasn't he picked up by other clubs earlier?
