What to do if you are Fremantle

Postby OnSong » Fri Aug 31, 2012 5:32 pm

The scenario is pretty simple:

Win big over Melbourne and you will play Geelong in Melbourne.
Win smallish over Melbourne, stay in Perth and play West Coast.

Of course, a win is rarely a given but it's pretty likely.

Lethal Leigh Matthews reckons he would try and manipulate the scores:

What would you do?
Right in front of me. RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!

When Ross Lyin says he won't be doing something it actually means he will do the opposite.

Double chance is the best option.
Win a qualifying final and there might be a chance you could earn a home preliminary.
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

providing the margin stays the same tonight and the hawks win

the dockers just need to manage the margin and stay in WA

I thought the margin had to be less then the Roos margin over GWS

Think the Fremantle brains trust would look at it and say that if we can't win in Melbourne, we're not going to go anywhere anyway and their record in Melbourne this year is pretty good and then to top it off, they may well have to play Adelaide in Adelaide or Sydney in Sydney the next week anyway.

Go all out. Mucking about with your form didn't do Collingwood any favours last year. You need that form tap flowing at this time of year. Lyon seems to be all about removing the culture of mediocrity at Freo so they'll smash the Dees.

If you are Freo you hope Sydney beat Geelong in the early game and then you come out and match Norths margin against GWS and claim 6th and a home final

Wow. The AFL fixtures is a joke - ie they really needs all games on the last round played at the same time to avoid this manipulation.

It would be hilarious tho if Melbourne "got something" by losing by more than 11 points, then we could have the situation in the last 1/4 of both teams trying to score own goals (points). lol.
