I know that Port Power have been in the comp for almost 16 years for one Premiership. Dominated the comp for four or five years in the early 2000's but won just one flag as a result of their tendency to choke in September. Did buggerall in the years before that and have done buggerall since...

VFL/AFL is the same comp, well, not the current VFL, the one before the AFL was made.

SANFL was never the same tier of competition, nor the QAFL or WAFL, Pt Adel has a bucket load of SANFL flags, and one AFL flag also, but that is all.

and how does 2 grand finals/1 premiership in 15 years compare to
-WB/Footscray no grand finals/flags in over 50 years- St Kilda - 1 flag in its existence, none in last 45 years. Only competitive in recent years due to AFL's "equalization" policies

- Richmond - 2 grand finals since 1980; 1 flag in that period

- Melbourne - zero flags in over 50 years

- Freo - zero premierships/zero grand finals since 1995

I'm very envious of the recent strength of clubs such as Collingwood and Geelong who have routinely smashed Port in the last 5-7 years, however lets not forget the period between premierships that both had after winning premierships in recent years (obviously referring to Geelong 1963 to 2007, not to 2009 and 2011). I'm not trying to claim any superiority over either club, I'm just trying to put things in perspective.

- if some people are going to judge a club over the space of 5 to 7 years, does that then mean Centrals 35 years from their commencement outweighs their recent massive success; does it means Sturt's spoonathon 20 years ago cancels out their glory years in the 1960's?
