Talk on the national game

Round 15 v Port

Postby bloods08 » Wed Jul 04, 2012 9:19 pm

Reckon this might be a good game as most showdowns are.

2 changes for me: Jenkins for Walker, Lynch for Petrenko. Petrenko has been quite poor the last couple of weeks so might be sent back to the SANFL for a bit of form. Johncock looked quite poor for the maggies last week and is probably a fair bit away.

Not sure on fitness of VB so maybe Jaensch might come back in as well.

Lynch to be the sub.

Crows by no more than 3 goals.

Round 15 v Port

No way that pup gets dropped. He has been playing a negating role. He has been playing his part in the team

There really is no-one in Port's defence for him to tag, so I can't see a role for him this week. Get him back to the eagles so he can get his hand on the ball a bit and then bring him back after that.

Would be the ideal match-up for Hartlett but I don't believe he will be available.

I would like the team to look like this

Richard Douglas - Daniel Talia - Ben Rutten

Nathan van Berlo - Sam Shaw - Brent Reilly

Brodie Martin - Scott Thompson - David Mackay

Bernie Vince - Kurt Tippett - Chris Knights

Jason Porplyzia - Shaun McKernan - Matthew Wright

RCK
Sam Jacobs - Patrick Dangerfield - Rory Sloane

INT
Jared Petrenko - Tim McIntyre - Brodie Smith
SUB
Michael Doughty

McKernan in for Walker, kicked 5.2 last week and also had 27 hitouts. I think he has a lot of potential but just needs to play more than 1 game in a row to get up to speed.

McIntyre in for Callinan (McIntyre is the leading goal kicker in the SANFL so in my opinion deserves a chance, he has kicked a couple of bags) I found it hard to choose between Petrenko and Callinan for a rest (although Centrals are playing Norwood so maybe not Callinan)

I would also like to have a look at Lewis Johnston, he is equal 3rd in goals in the SANFL so also has some form. Lynch has been playing well in Defence for Glenelg but has only kicked 1 goal for the Tigers this year so I would go for Johnston if they wanted to go for 3 talls.

Doughty could be a good option as the sub and I thought both Martin and Smith played well last week so deserve the chance to start.

I thought Rutten's game was great last week once he got moved off the Key forward so moving Talia to full back and Shaw to CHB could free Rutten up to fill the gaps and take control of the play back there. Talia and Shaw at this stage in their careers don't find a lot of the ball but do well in shutting down their opponents.

Petrenko will go straight to Pearce this week and dominate. There is no way he gets dropped!

McIntyre has just been elevated from the rookie list

"Adelaide has elevated Tim McIntyre to the primary list as a mid-season nominated rookie.

This makes him eligible for selection, if required, in the Crows side for the rest of season 2012.

McIntyre, 23, is a small marking forward who has been in good form with Sturt in the SANFL, booting nine goals in the past two games."

Easy mistake to make. He usually jumps out form the corner when the easy ball is there to take.

IMO I would play both Lynch and Jenkins to stretch the Power defence. Also means Tippet can play forward all match and Jenkins can be the second ruckman. He is a better option tham McKernan (and it also means Jenkins wont play against Westies :D)

And from what I have seen Jenkins makes a better second ruck compared to Tippett (in saying that he does a great job though).

Great win last night and to do it with sauce having to ruck on his own all night was even better.

Thompson brilliant again.

McKernan looks a definite out and I wouldn't be risking Tippett (whatever his injury is) against GWS so Lynch and Jenkins may get a look in.

Liked Tim McIntyre's first quarter but don't think he did enough over the last 3 qtrs to hold off Callinan and maybe Petrenko from coming back into the side

Going on Sando's press conference I think he may get another go. It is worth it against GWS as I see Pup and Wingnut being more later in the season. The extra week could help with that.
