BETTER THAN JUDD

Burgoyne in a league of his own, says Francou

ANDREW CAPEL
FOOTBALL WRITER

Move over Chris Judd.
Shaun Burgoyne has been rated by his team-mates as tha AFL's best player-and the X factor who could lead the Power to a shocking upset of Adelaide in Showdown XX1.........
.....FRANCOU: ..at least the equal of Brownlow Medallist Chris Judd......" He is as good as Judd now and if he gets his aerobic fitness up I'd pick him ahead of Judd"....................

MALS OPINION
-----------------

Josh Francou was a champion footballer but I'm afraid his assessment on Burgoyne being as good if not better than Judd might be biased and way off the mark.
Burgoyne's team-mates rate him the AFL's best player.......your kidding.
Burgoyne is having a great year.
Judd has had a great 3 years and might win his 2nd Brownlow.
Burgoyne will be tagged incessively next year and will need to show us the goods.
He is a good player but not in Judds league YET.

Would he make the GWW top 20 list ?

Burgoyne better than Judd....NO
Next thing would be people telling me Reilly is a better footballer than Dal Santo.

I agree that Burgoyne is not yet as consistent as Judd, however,I feel most would agree his best and his most brilliant moments are as good as anyone's,Judd included.Time and attention will show how good he really is,and from watching him close up this season,he is good, real good.

Me thinks that may be Josh has been spending to much time down @ Port.

Agree with all of that Millsn ... Actually remember someone (not you) ridiculing me at the start of the year for suggesting that Junior was Brownlow quality ...

I'm with you CP.

And I've got the posts on BigFooty from before the season to prove it!

IIRC, Junior was paying around $65 back then.

Anyway, I don't think he'll win this year - Port just didn't win enough games.

Having said that, he could steal some undeserved votes simply because when he gets the pill, he does some pretty magic things.

Still don't think he'll win Port's B&F - Brendon Lade has the John Cahill Medal in the bag.

Burgoyne is better than Judd. I've seen both players at their very best, and Burg's was better. Judd does wreck havoc, no doubt, but Burgoyne is in a league barely above Judd.

Burgs won't get the B&F, Brendan Lade and Danyle Pearce are the front runners for that.

Judd has 1 x charlie around his neck and has been consistently Brillant for 5 seasons

Burgoyne has no charlie around his neck and has been consistently Brillant for 1 season

Lets not brand people on Potential or 1 years outstanding performance, to be considered in the same sentence as Judd surely you need to perform at that level consistently over time, which is 3 or 4 seasons

I see the Adelaide drinking water has not lost any of its
hallucinatory side effects.
YIKES!!!

Fair dinkum you blokes - i cant believe what Im reading above!

This will keep me laughing in my sleep tonight!!!

I remeber Dean Rioli showing some "most brilliant" moments also...LMAO

In one sentance you say how good Burgoyne has been this year and that he will run third in the B&F

LOL - Eddie Hocking, Aaron Keating (mal...), Adrian Saliba, Lawrence Angwin....the list goes on, for at least 10 seconds in their career they had the moment that was better than Judd!!!

In fact it is so absurd I dont even know which Burgoyne your referring too!...

Well, there's only one playing at the moment, and that being Shaun. Peter has been out for over a month with a torn hammy.

I know that, surely you base a arguement on a career not a few months?

Over the coarse of their career's, yes, Chris Judd is a better player than Shaun Burgoyne, but this season, Burg's has not only reached, but surpassed Judd's level.

Lets see who polls the most votes for the charlie this year, I'm tipping Judd even though he has players like Kerr, Cox, Cousins stealing votes

S Burgoyne has had a great year but disagree with some of my fellow Port supporters that hes better than Judd. He needs to keep it up for a few years yet before he can be put in the same category as the Eagles star.

Can someone tell ASADA to drop their NRL investigations and get down to Alberton, because there are some major recreational hallucinagenic substances being passed around.

First of all they say Francou was in the top five midfielders circa 2001-2003. Umm maybe he was in the top five if you didn't consider Akermanis (2001 Brownlow), Black (2002 Brownlow) Buckley (2003 Brownlow. 2002 Norm Smith), Mcloed (2001 runner up), Ruccitio (2003 Brownlow) Hird, Voss (both still the best in my book) and chuck in Scotty West too who polled as many Brownlow votes as Francou......

Plus Akermanis, Black, Voss, Hird, Buckley also produced when it mattered most prelims and GFs, something Francou didn't do. Great players rise for the big games, not just the minor rd games........

NEXT, they try to say Burgoyne is as good as Judd ((snigger-snigger BWAHAA, HAA, HAA, HAA     ) ROFLMFAO)

Once again if Kerr, Judd, Cousins, Goodwin, West, etc aren't available I might consider him.......Even then I'd only take those players if i couldn't get J Brown in my side, he is the one player I wish the Crows could recruit.

One winter doth not a great player make......Burgoyne has a lot to prove yet before he can be considered as good as Judd.

oh dear.....respect level of all future posts by PAP :toimonster:

great post Tassie - Im still laughing at this whole topic! shows unfortuantely that some fans are club fans not footy fans and if there team aint playing they do even look sideways at another game - hence the rose coloured glasses

oh yes PAP please PM me and we can have a wager on who will poll more votes this year - but please do it quickly before you get inundated with requests

My god...this post along with the other crap about both Port clubs sharing the history from 1870 to 1996 has set you back in the credibility stakes by a mile.
