Surprise surprise. Heath Shaw doesn't understand that betting on matches that you are participating in further compromises the 'integrity' of the already compromised Collingwood Football League AKA Australian Premier League.
Um..if the players can bet on the outcome it's not good for the game...GEDDIT. Shaw reckons he should have just copped a fine. For mine he's bloody lucky not to be on ice for the rest of the year. Perhaps he should complain to his club, after all it is my understanding it was Collingwood who came up with the penalty, not the AFL.

That's interesting that Heater has come out and said that because Eddie was adamant at the time that he supported the AFL's decision so he'll be none too happy that Heater is once again putting his club in the spotlight for the wrong reasons.
Regardless of whether we agree with Heater on this issue or not (I don't), I wonder at what point do the club say that enough is enough. Or is this a sign that he is on the outer there already?

interesting to hear eddie on radio carrying on about dale thomas suspension, according to eddie he did nothing surely a president shouldnt be able to comment in the same way the players cant.

Oh, but if it was (completely at random) a Brisbane player having a whinge, Eddie would jump to put them back in their place...
Collingwood... To the AFL what India is to cricket...

And so he should. It is the Collingwood Football League after all. They shouldn't have to have a salary cap and should have all 22 of their matches at the MCG. Seeing as all Vlad cares about is the coin he might as well maximise the revenue and drop this flimsy pretence of integrity in the competition. Watch out for our fearless overlord as he tries to deny tanking yet again as Richmond and North go all out to lose this weekend's match. Give them nothing and give the Pies that draft pick instead.

I didn't read it as Shaw having a whinge. But those with an anti-Collingwood agenda would read that into it, which is fair enough.
I thought he was naively saying that "given previous precedents, I thought I'd only get a fine, not suspended. I was surprised to get a suspension given what has happened before".

Shaw is a thick as bricks. There is no doubt about that. I know he wasnt having a whinge but was probably actually surprised because he is seriously dumb.

Spot on Dogwatcher. Do you think maybe the AFL threw the book at him for previous discretions, that they couldn't suspend him for?

I think he was suspended because the AFL wanted to prove they weren't BSing about taking the issue seriously.
Whether the suspension should've been longer is another debate.
