R21 - Adelaide v Geelong

Well, a tough assignment this week. I don't believe we can win, but I do believe we can avoid a blow out comparable to Geelongs wins in the last couple of weeks.

Although the last 2 wins have been against sides below us, wins regardless of position give confidence, and it's good to see the young fellas backing themselves and believing in their abilities a bit more. Really all I want out of this game is to see a continuation of this improvement. If I see that, then regardless of the result I will be a happy man.

Discuss away ladies and gents.

I'll watch it on TV, but I'm not sure I'll see it all if it is a thrashing - there is a limit to my masochism.
I'm just hoping we can make it some degree of a contest and keep the margin under 10 goals.
I expect Geelong to win comfortably in the end.

Still, I can hope for a miracle...

Adelaide will put up more fight then melbourne and gold coast for sure. Cats are a strong side, and if matty scarlett dosent play, we have more of a chance. if Bicks keeps going the way he is, changing things up during the game, playing blokes in different spots, then should be a good game to watch. i was a critic of Van berlo until the last 2 weeks, putting him in the middle was a great move and he has shown captain inspriring form

We will smash them! 8)

Fingers crossed theboys put up another solid effort. Nothing worse than getting pumped and having to watch it in this shitty time slot of 4:10 or what ever it is. But, I am affraid that the easy skill errors we have been making the last couple of weeks will hurt us a lot. As our lord and saviour (i really wish there was a sarcasm button) said, "there are no such things as respectable losses".

Posting at 3/4 time in case it all goes peared shape in the last but amazing what happens when we run with the ball and burst through the lines in numbers. Our pressure has been fantastic and hopefully continues for another 30 minutes.

Should of won in the end but just not enough poise under pressure. Pleasing signs and the squad currently playing showing the talent they do possess, just need the right leader or inspiration to get it out of them. Hopefully we see a similar performance next week against the Gold Coast.

It's not easy to be pleased with losing a match, but I was impressed with the effort.
On this year's form I thought getting within 10 goals of Geelong would be pretty good.
It shows what a change of attitude at the club can do.

Thought Adelaide were pretty well burnt by the umpiring, the pleasing thing was that they never dropped their heads. Good effort and it showed a lot about many players.

Yes, I thought there were a few dodgy decisions, including a "mark" that was taken outside the line by a Geelong forward.
[Not just completed outside the line.]

Umpire Simon Overland (#15) certainly did everything in his power to get the crowd offside with him. Even the Geelong bloke next us admitted they had the rub of the 'green'. ;)

Can't believe I'm saying this but I wasn't too disappointed after that effort, we just need a bit of polish and things could start looking up (quickly).

Never seen a crowd turn on an umpire like they did tonight with Nicholls - someone even jumped the fence and went after him apparently!

His performance tonight was nothing short of disgraceful.

The team seem to be responding to Bickley as Coach, If Alastair Clarkson proves not to take the job at the Crows I did have Scott Burns as second choice, scratch that and I would put Bickley in the no 2 spot. Bicks can point to having put some runs on the board in terms of improvement with a pretty average list, Burns would remain untried and booted down to third spot IMO.

Liked the look especially of Sloan, Talia, Aiden Reilly and Thompson today. Considering the number of games between them it was a pretty fair effort!

Burns has said he doesnt want the AFC job i believe. Will be interesting to see what is happening behind the schenes and who the applicants are. Also, i think you mean Mckernan as L Thompson didnt play tonight
