Fox Sports News is reporting Dean Bailey has been sacked.
Gerard Whately also reporting the dismissal via Twitter.

Of course they had a choice. Let the emotion of the event subside before making a rash decision. The media pressure was to great for Melbourne I guess.

Tend to agree, TSG. The consensus was that he would not be there in 2012, but to terminate early like this - albeit after a horror match - is odd timing, especially with no obvious successor at the club. Connolly is in enough trouble with his role as football operations manager, let alone taking the coaching reigns for the rest of the year. Todd Viney probably the favorite for this season at least.

Seems all is not well in the club, could be more to follow Bailey by the early reporting.
Obviously the magnitude of that horrific loss did the trick ... 31 goals is one hell of a thumping.
Not sure there's a right or wrong answer on this one.

Who said it prospered? It just existed for many years. By the time the national competition was formed most of the clubs were broke. Not saying that these wanky terms are causing the game to prosper mind you.
