What the hell is Petrie on about?

Postby Rik E Boy » Fri Jul 29, 2011 1:15 pm

'We need to land a big one' WTF. Since when does a) North measure up to anyone who could even loosely be considered a contender and b) A team considered to be a 'big scalp' when they can't beat the top teams either.

If North does the unthinkable and beats Chris Judd, they still won't have claimed a 'big scalp' because by the end of the year Chris Judd will get rolled by the Saints in a an Elimination final while West Coast snaffle their top four spot.

Strange days indeed......most peculiar mamma.

Nice one REB.

North have the wood over the Blues, and are a huge chance tonight. Petrie himself will kick 6, and Oompah Loompah always fires against the Blues.

You sound like Mick Malthouse there Jabber.

While I hope you do lose I reckon you won't. BTW, who is Oompah Loompah (I'm guessing it's Boomer due to his towering stature).

Hence the reason i put the other two sides ahead of us.
Still a slim chance, would need to win at least 3 possibly 4 so very tough ask.

What the hell is Petrie on about?

Reb, saying Carlton will get knocked out by st kilda is going to come back to bite you on the ass... Carlton are only 2 points behind an injury depleted hawthorn side. And have a good run home.and a warm spring day on a fast mcg Carlton could easily beat Geelong. Forcing Geelong to play collingwood in another preliminary final.

Hawthorn will beat Carlton. The Hawks have a short backline that matches up well with Carlton's current offensive set up. They are playing Hale instead of Roughy and those talls will stretch Carlton's undersized defence. Carlton don't have as many out as Hawthorn but the Hawks have gotten a few back lately but the Blues are powerderpuffs without Jamieson and Waite.

Carlton have a crack midfield that's true but Hawthorn are no slouches in this area. I reckon the Hawks beat Carlton and that means that West Coast would have to do something seriously wrong to miss the top four considering their run home.

Just my two cents though so not too sure how it can come back and bite me on the arse. As for the good run home matches against North tonight, Hawthorn and Freo away does not represent a golden run in comparision to what West Coast are facing. The Blues will do well to snaffle a double chance this year. Don't see it happening.

Bit harsh on Petrie. Carlton are one of the best teams in the league at winning clearances and even during the second quarter this was happening except Carlton squandered scoring opportunities. This game was won in midfield, as are many others. Gibbs up forward was a winning move as well.
