R14 v Geelong

Talk on the national game

R14 v Geelong

Postby D14 » Mon Jun 20, 2011 3:14 pm

What are the chances of putting up a contest this week against Geelong on Sunday? We haven't put up more than a 2 quarter effort since the Collingwood game and in our last quarters we seem to have no run left at all.

I think we have nothing to lose and need to make some changes. We are really lacking pace and need to play on and move the ball forward at all times. No more going backwards, It has caused numerous demoralising turnovers that has changed the momentum of the games and made the players loose confidence.

My team would look like this:

Jaensch - Rutten - L.Thompson
Johncock - Talia - Otten
Petrenko - S.Thompson - Henderson
Douglas - McKernan - Vince
Sloane - Tippett - Callinan
-
Jacobs - Dangerfield - VanBerlo
-
A.Riley - Tambling - Martin
-
Wright

Ins: Talia, Callinan, Riley, Tambling and Martin
Outs: Gunston, Doughty, Knights, Schmidt and Symes

With Geelong maybe missing Stokes, Selwood, J Hunt, Bartel, Kelly and Duncan are the Crows any chance?

From a selfish point of view, I'm hoping 3 aren't taken out of the Sturt side and also Martin is the only one of those that played well last weekend for Sturt.

On the Geelong game, probably best for us it pisses down all day and it's a low scoring slog. Might lose by 30 points instead of 130.

Crows would have to play very well to beat Geelong VFL side so no chance in hell of beating AFL side.

Saying that i will still be at the game just in case. Guess thats what you get from being a sturt supporter in the 90's dont want to miss a game in case its the one we win for the year.

I doubt Knights will be dropped, he hasn't been great, but managed a goal before going off with a migraine.
Now that Stevens has retired, there should be a spot for the upgrade of Callinan.

Not sure about the merits of Talia and Riley, but I'm aware of the latter being talked up quite a lot.

As i have said before KNights is plodding atm. His efforts in the zone are deplorable and his output has been poor. Would stuggle to have registered a tackle this year.

Talia for me is about blooding him. No point giving more time to Sellar and we need a CHB v Geelong!

Aiden Riley im not sure about as i havent been able to get to a sturt game this year

Registered 2 tackles before going off on Friday.
Team tackling was actually good early against the Dogs.
I would agree his tackling and intensity overall this season has been poor.

driving down again for the game from swan hill. have done so 5 times so far this year for not much return. There were signs against the dogs last friday night that things were starting to change but the players have no confidence and as a result play dumb football. Sitting above the interchange bench last friday night, it was hard not to notice the lack of enthusiasm coming from the players.
The main thing that really irritated me was the way that we would give a handball to a teammate and then run away looking for a cheap kick instead of going in and giving a shepherd. The main culprit for this was symes who is far more interested in his own stats then doing anything for the team. If anyone does that against geelong, it will be a 100+ point flogging. I think that a real focus on the simple things like shepherds, bumps, smothers etc... for four quarters will really give us a chance (front and centre for tippett might even happen). WOuld be the biggest upset the crows have ever pulled off if it was to happen.

Symes is a good chance to win the Magarey I reckon

Another sterling performance from the boys. Man up on Scarlett please Niel  .

Put some more players behind the ball ;)

In one way I am hoping we get done by plenty and the club might look at getting a new coach

The question i keep asking is how many of the players in the team at the moment would get a game at another AFL club?

S. Thompson, Sloane, Tippett, Vince, Johncock, Rutten, Van Berlo ????
Trust the process.
