Rank the 4 contemporary HOF inductees..

There's very little separating these 4 players, but I would rank them, thus:

1) James Hird
2) Michael Voss
3) Nathan Buckley
4) Mark Ricciuto

I wouldn't expect many to agree with those rankings, but that's how I see it.

Very hard to split
1. Hird - X factor
2. Voss - Courageous
3. Ricciuto - Brutal
4. Buckley - Figjam

Just achievements alone make them hard to split:
Hird - 5 times all Australian, 2 times premiership player, 5 times b&f, norm smith medal, brownlow medal - 253 games
Ricciuto - 8 times all Australian, premiership player, 3 times b&f, brownlow medal - 312 games
Voss - 5 times all Australian, 3 times premiership player, 3 times b&f, brownlow medal - 289 games
Buckley - 7 times all Australian, 6 times b&f, norm smith medal, brownlow medal - 280 games

I find it very difficult to say who was better than who, they were all very different players with different strengths and attributes...

Hird - so composed and silky
Voss - courage and competitiveness
Ricciuto - tough and hard, also dominated up front
Buckley - worked so hard and went all day

If I had to say who I'd pick first in my side I'd go Voss, Hird, Roo, Bucks...

Best kicker, preferred and non-preferred too, of the last 30 years, horribly over-rated. Carp comment mate!

1. Nathan Buckley. Hate his guts, but the best player I've seen recently.
2. Michael Voss. If nothing else, his stats.... That and he was a gun.
3. James Hird. Yeah, he went alright.
4. Roo. Very good footballer, but not up with the above three.

Tough call, but I have to place James Hird first because of his ability to play midfield and key positions (at both ends) with equal efficiency. The last three are difficult to split but I've gone for:

Hird
Voss
Buckley
Ricciuto

Finishing fourth in this group is certainly no disgrace.

You rate Buckley as a better kick than Darren Jarman?

Me too.
IIRC Hird also missed some lenghty times in 98 & 99 due to injury at an age that is often a players best years.
