The strength has to come from within. That starts by looking deep into yourself and admitting you have a problem. Ben Cousins didn't look into himself, he looked into a TV camera and said all the right things so he could continue his AFL career, all the while with that slightly smug smirk on his moosh. Cuzzy is no actor.

He now has to go through the withdrawal from league football, which is tough enough from what I've read about recently retired players as well as trying to live with the fact that only safe amount of drugs for him is ZERO.

While I'm not a fan of Cousins I do hope he wins this battle and can go on to make some sense out of his life. He probably just needs to take up another sport...just for fun.

Or come to terms with the fact that no other sport or profession is ever going to provide him with the same "high" that professional football did.

Easier said than done I know, but IMHO it really is a case of needing to make peace with the demons - Sadly many people aren't able to achieve this, but like you REB, I hope Cousins can (and any individual facing such a tough challenge)
