Ive had enough
I and many many many many many many many many many many others are sick of the insignificant saturated AFL mumbo jumbo in the local presses
Some outstanding local journos are having to dish up crappy stories

Todays Sunday MAiL

CANT A MAN HAVE A BEER
Gerard Healy and Tony Shaw have slammed Taylor Walker for drinking a beer in public[AAMI Staduim Saturday]
Walker has been labelled as silly
Readers are asked if it was OK for Walker to have a beer
Etc Etc

Big deal
He played Friday night for NW
He was highly unlikely to be playing for AC as a travelling emergency
So he has a beer with his mates, a favorite pastime for young blokes at a game of footy
So a picture of Walker is plastered on the back page

FFS
WHO CARES

The only part of this over-reacted 2 page story was Phil Harpers response

""Hes allowed to have a life.""
"" He played his last game last night for Norwood, he went down to watch his mates play and while he was there one of his mates bought him a beer.""
"" He had a beer with his mates and that was it""

Walker does not tackle enough
Walker has a beer in public
What next ?
Walker eats non organic foods

As for Healy and Shaw, have they forgotten what its like to be a young lad ?

After the PP V GC game

PP were a mile in front and get steamrolled by the fast finishing GC
PP suffered a lamentable defeat

I pick up the paper and read the reason why PP are having fade outs stemmed from the GE V PP Grand Final loss in 2007
Some mind games expert suggested this was so
That was 4 years ago

What made this story even more perplexing is what happened the week b4 in the Showdown
PP gave AC several goals start and steamrolled the Crows for an emphatic Derby win, one of the great comebacks in the short PP history
Perhaps the journos forgot what happened in the 2007 GF that week .....

Sounds like a few Norwood people are being a tad precious about it ... apparently no-one is allowed to say anything bad about Walker.

The 'issue' isn't that he had a beer, but that he had a beer 'on display' at the ground.

Try finding image of any other AFL player at the ground the day his team is playing having a frothy ... I doubt you'd find one.

So, not a big deal really, but fairly dumb from a footballer who seems to have talent but is destined to be a very good SANFL footballer but never to make it in the AFL.

You might be right Dedj, but then there are a lot of non-Norwood people feeling that he's being hung out over buggerall ... I personally reckon it's ridiculous that this would be so newsworthy, but that has zero to do with his allegiance to Norwood.

Absolute Storm in a tea cup. Walker had no official capacity at Footy Park yesterday and was only there supporting his home town. I have seen AFL listed blokes watching their team mates at SANFL matches with beers in hand.

Also picked up Jasper Pittard was listed in Port's best as McMillian-Pittard, the McMillian part he dropped at the end of last year.

Dedj, wasn't exactly drinking the day his side was playing.

This is a joke it's newsworthy. He has an 8 day break between his games iirc so one of few times he could have a beer throughout the year

It was okay by the Crows, and that's ALL that matters. My only annoyance is once again the media go off half-cocked without finding out the facts. I really do despise the media. They see something, dream up a story in their minds, and then assume it is fact.

And we all read it and watch it

In all of my years of following, watching and listening to football, I have never heard a more biased commentary than that of Brian Taylor in the Adelaide v Collingwood game today. He may as well just go down and sit on the Collingwood bench with them.

I made this point on the live scores thread, dead set biased.

The most ridiculous comment I've heard is one suggesting he did it on purpose to make a statement to the Crows that he is leaving at the end of the year.

David Parkin in a Carlton vs Adelaide game in Melbourne a few years ago was far worse. Bit quieter towards the end when Adelaide won though.

edit: several times today, Adelaide had a Griffin playing for them. I think they meant Tippett.

every week the sunday mail manage to f*** up the ladders. i.e St Kilda on 10 pts sit below teams on 8 points. The same thing happened with the sanfl ladder last week, with South sitting below Sturt I think.

It really shouldn't be all that hard.

Today the Mail's got Sturt sitting below Port with equal Prem Points and higher percentage.
