Fly kick sums it up for me too. A fly kick to some opposition supporters mainly!

I'm mildly peeved.

I didnt expect us to make the 8 this year, I may have held a dream that at absolute best we would be 7th or 8th but felt we would probably be 13th or 14th with West Coast, Brisbane and Gold Coast behind us and battling with Richmond and the Kangas around the 12-14th mark. So, this may still prove correct ( although West Coast are looking better than many expected ) so I'm not broken yet.

What I am dissappointed in is the manner and hey, I dont expect us to turn it around this Friday night or the week after or probably the week after that. Shite, it might not happen this year! ( and probably wont ) So I;m going to deal with 2011 the best I can, look for a brighter future off field to keep the masses from rolling around in fits at us and improve in 2012.

What can be improved in the short term though is playing stocks. Attitude, endeavour, they come with confidence and we have ZERO confidence at the moment. Look at Collingwood last week against Essendon. If they had been lacking any confidence, the endeavour would have dropped off when challenged, but with the supreme amount of confidence that Colligwood have, they kept the effort and endeavour up as they knew they would turn it around soon enough. We dont believe in ourselves at the moment and as such the thoughts of "Why bother?" begin to fester, so, the best way to change this,IMO, give some people a go, give them a good go.

Here is who :

Butcher : Showing some promise with the Magpies the highly rated junior has to get a spot in the forward half, probably at Motlops expense.

Lobbe : Even though he seems a long way off, we know Trengove is up to it, we know Daniel Stewart is not quite up to it ( yet ) so lets see what Lobbe has got, behind Broges, we're rooted.
We have no ready made #1 ruckman, so, see what Lobbe can do.

Here is the tough part, who else do we "rush in"? We sorely lack depth and the recruiting department needs a kick in the arse, sure, you cant get it right all the time but you have to get some right.

We could let Meyer, Davenport, Motlop, Motlop, Banner, Moore and Salter go and we still have 4 or 5 on the list that have shown little in the last 12 months. Rookies,I'll concede, but other clubs have 1st and 2nd year players playing in their best 22, clubs in the top 8 do, why dont we? They aren't up to it.

Anywho, probably the middle of my rant but Im getting to shitty so I'll come back later.
PAFC. Forever.

LOOK OUT, WE'RE COMING!

No disrespect to the Woodpeckers, but I'm actually starting to feel how a Woodville supporter must have felt in the days when i was growing up in the 70's and 80's. Only I can't recall Woodville letting big leads go.

I could probably have accepted it better if we went for a coach never having anything to do with the club before, such as Chris Scott, but who's to say that would have made much difference.

I think Butcher needs to get a taste this year, but I wouldn't rush him in as I don't think he's ready yet. Jacobs after 3 or 4 more SANFL games will hopefully make his debut. I haven't given up on Andrew Moore yet, he's been affected by injury, so I hope he does come good.

Lobbe appears to be underdone, but after a few more game at West, I'd like to see him play some AFL footy too.

I often think the best development pathway for a young ruckman is a lengthy stay in the SANFL. Playing in the SANFL he can play the majority of the game, be the number one ruckman and in theory dominate some games. If they get brought up to AFL too early they'll just be a bit player and not get alot out of it. Unless of course your a Nic Natanooowee.

The whole "wave the white flag" thing is nothing new, unfortunately.

Been disappointed with the club for several years now.

Like a chook with its head cut-off...
