Yet. Only been coaching AFL for 6 years. Took Malthouse 9 years before winning a flag as a coach. Took Thompson 8 years.

Only thing is that Craig's side isn't getting any better, in fact it will be worse than last year, and there is no conceivable premiership window opening anytime soon.

So I posted this in the worst AFL Coach thread late last year, and it's now sitting as Gingernuts' signature.

After four matches, the Cows are sitting at 1-3...

So who's looking the goods so far, and will Ginger's sig disappear?? ;)

Nice work MP. Wondering how long it would be.

'Premiership Window' talk is pie in the sky stuff - and that wasn't my main beef with your post.

It was more about your statement that Adelaide will be worse this year than last, that is my main disagreement with you my man.

I still think by the end of this season Adelaide will be showing significantly more than they did in 2010.

Unlike many Adelaide fans around here I'm happy to put my ginger hairy ones on the line.

The sig stays. ;)

the crows are getting better. they have had injuries and they are a very young list.

REB after Geelongs 06 season finishing 10th and the first 5 weeks of 07 did you you think they would challange in the next few years. they have lost 11 games since then and become one of the greatest

We were a pretty good side that underperformed badly. Adelaide are an inexperienced side playing to the best of their abilities...they just don't have the depth to cover the injuries they have copped so far. They've used the most players out of any team in the league and that never equates to a positive win loss record.

Geelong were actually better in 2006 than they were percieved to be but in 2005 we were not as good as we were percieved to be. Both Geelong teams were well advanced on the current Crow outfit. Where Adelaide is now I would rank them about where Geelong where in 2001. Bloody miles off it.

You rated them top 4 last year REB. I realise some big names have retired since then, but that's a big change in tune in a bit over 12 months.

If adelaide were playing to the best of their abilities they would never have lost to port and not given away a 2 goal lead against carlton with 10 minutes to go. The current group is inexperienced but there upside is massive. With a bit more poise under pressure we should be 3-1 instead of 1 and 3. Might not be playing finals footy at the end of the year but as the herald sun put it yesterday will definitely have a major role in shaping its final make up. (I still think we will play finals)

Young inexperienced teams are very inconsistent. Especially when they suffer injuries. A full strength Adelaide unit could challenge strongly for the finals but as I have pointed out you aren't at full strength...you've used more than any other team in the league. Therefore, I believe you are playing to your current capabalities.

By intimating that you are going to blow Port away is disrespecting a team that never fails to lift when they play you. Perhaps this is an attitude that permeates the club. If that is true then perhaps that is why they keep beating you.

Should have qualified that statement by saying never would have lost after being 4-5 goals up. I know very little about that game as it was my wedding day but from what i have heard we were rubbish for a lot of it.

I would say McLeod & Goodwin are the only two we are really feeling. Burton - meh. Bock - maybe, but Davis will have him covered by the end of the year.

McLeod + Goodwin = a drop of 8-10 ladder spots??

You must've seen something else in the squad to rate them so highly last year. IMO what you saw is still there, it's just taking a bit more time to develop than most people expected.

I'm not going to big note the side or individuals in it like some supporters tend to do. However I do firmly believe we will see Adelaide start stringing some wins together very soon, post a better result than last year, and maybe even squeeze into the bottom 8.

Yeah, I saw a side that threw off the shackles to become a goalkicking machine.
I saw a midfielder in Bernie Vince who appeared to be on the cusp of becoming elite.
I saw a key position player in Kurt Tippett who appeared to be on the cusp of becoming elite.
I saw a Redleg man in Walker looking ready to step up as the secondary forward.
I thought Porplyzia's shoulders would remain attached to his body.

NONE of these things have happened. And if you lose FIVE experienced players that on it's own, combined with what I've mentioned above this can quite easily equate to 8-10 ladder positions. In fact much less than this can also equate to that drop as there is very little between the team ranked say 6th and 12th these days. It doesn't take a lot to drop off.

You may have resisted the tempatation to big note certain Crowies but you have alas fallen for one Cyclopean trait, that is all of a sudden stating that Bock is so easliy covered. Davis ahead of Bock turn it up. Well, this week they are about even as none of them are playing.

I did neglect Edwards in that little equation, just a small oversight.

Never said Davis was ahead of Bock either, I said I'm confident he'll have him covered (ie be holding down CHB capably) by the close of the season.

I can understand people being keen to downgrade Adelaide, hell they get overblown enough in the media to the point where even I get sick of the 'Tippett is a legend', 'Walker is a superstar' page long articles. I'd be jumping on board the 'bag Adelaide' train too if I didn't support them.

All I'm saying is I believe that those things you've listed above will still happen. Just because they haven't yet doesn't mean they never will.

Workrate a MAJOR issue with the two forwards and not every promising midfielder learns to shake a tag. Fair enough on Davis. It's not that I'm keen to downgrade Adelaide it's just that the only reason I reckon they got rated in the first place was due to the draw and that many observers have underestimated just how much experience they have lost and that this is the first season when they've had to go the whole year without that experience. The injury situation hasn't helped.

After Adelaide flogged Essendon in the 2009 final series I bet my Crows mate $500 we would win a flag before them, i reckon im a big chance to collect.
