Showdown

So folks, we should do it, but the question is can we? History is littered with plenty of showdowns we should've won and haven't.

I reckon we can get up. Night game, good atmosphere, surely the young fellas can fire up again and put in a performance like round one again!

On a side note - great to see Phil Davis is only out for 3 or 4 weeks. Thought it was gonna be a lot worse.

based on talent , we would win this. but the game isnt about that, and itll be a slugfest and whoever has more composure in the second half will win this .walker will do that and well get up by 12 points. (i hope anyway)

Robbie Gray also turns it on for Showdowns

Showdowns make me nervous and last week reminded me just how young our team is. They are also a young side.

I dunno, Port 1-10. I think they have the edge in their midfield and they are due for a win.

Port have a very young side as well. On paper I would back the Crows but, Port 5hite me when it comes to Showdons. They are 0-3 and lets be honest, not playing the best kind of football and will come out and play like they should be favourtie for the premiership.
We should get up but will be very close I think.

Unfortunately I think this game is made for Port. Their 0-3, backs to the wall, coming off a thumping at the cattery, and they have senior players ready to come back into the side.

As Hondo mentioned, they will be stronger in the middle and if our boys contested footy is anywhere near as bad as last week, we could be in for a long night.

The bookies are usually on the money, however $1.36 is way too short for Adelaide. I'm pushing my missus into putting money on Port at $3.15, I can't bring myself to bet against my team.

Well, I'm going to be the positive one on here and say that I believe that this Showdown is made for Adelaide.

Adelaide has copped a flogging for it's sub-par performance last week and will be looking to prove that the Hawthorn form was the norm rather than the exception.

A night Showdown is as big as it gets in the minor round. Just the stage for the younger crew to step up and show that they have got what it takes. VB will be fired up to lead the boys out. Vince has proven Showdown form and I believe is close to returning to his best. Dangerfield has already displayed his 'game breaking' ability in both games this year. Tippett has a game under the belt and no clear match up.

Don't worry about it, we'll be Crowing this time next week. ;)

Its a trend and sign of weakness that both supporters dont want to back their side in. Both Port and Crows supporters say they arent confident yada yada yada so they can justify their side loosing. If they win, its "oh wasnt that a great performance" or loose "i didnt feel good about this game etc"

Im backing the lads in to beat the POWA PUFFS!

Carlile is clearly the match up for Tippett he has done well on him in the past.

with chaplin jumping across them as the 3rd man up. tippett and tex really need to work together this week. i think they can both beat the 2 port defenders they just need to make sure that one of them take their defender up the ground to take away that 3rd man up option.
down back i think the crows have the power forwards covered. Davis will take westhoff and Truck will take cornes and stiffy on motlop/ ebert. i think brogan will beat maric in the ruck so our midfielders will need to be rucking off him all night to give our forwards the quick first option going forward.

Stevens and or Luke Thomson will take the CHF. Possibly even an Andy Otten

I'll have a go at what our 22 should look like:

B: Johncock Rutten Otten
HB: Tambling Stevens Martin
C: van Berlo Dangerfield Reilly
HF: Douglas Tippett Knights
F: McKernan Walker Jaensch
R: Maric S Thompson Vince
INT: Wright L Thompson Smith Symes
EMG: Moran Henderson Petrenko

Don't think Doughty will come back this week and think Hendo needs a run back at Centrals.

Jacobs probably needs a couple of games at the eagles unfortunately before I'd consider him.
Go you Redbacks!

I heard Neil Craig decided to do a full on game style training session today for 1 hour with 5 injuries coming out of it, bright spark if true!!

Henderson - possible cracked ankle, off in an ambulance
Tambling - possible cracked jaw, off in an ambulance
Seller - severe corky
Walker - belted from pillar to post
Stevens - also belted around & off with a headache..
