Richmond Season 2011

Continually improving last few seasons, this season will be no different for the Tigers, they are slowly getting there act together...

They won't be any real trouble for the "powerhouse" sides, but will be competitive against the lower ranked sides.

For me, a 10-15 finish.

All talk on the Tigers right here in Tigerland for 2011!

FROM AFL SITE:

Despite copping thrashings on the opening night of the past two seasons, Richmond will again take on Carlton to start 2011. Damien Hardwick's men face some daunting challenges in the following couple of weeks as well. The Tigers meet St Kilda in round two, Hawthorn in round three and Collingwood in round four.

Richmond will certainly clock up plenty of frequent flyer points in 2011. The Tigers are playing a home game in Darwin against Port Adelaide and another one in Cairns against Gold Coast. They've also got away matches in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney.

One of the youngest lists in the comp that goes to one forward more often than any other team isn't going to get as high as tenth. The improvement will continue but this group still have a lot to learn.

Just looking for a bite im guessing REB after our pm's? ;)

We do have a couple of forwards besides Jack. From what ive read of late Jack will play a bit further up the ground, more so CHF than a FF. Brad Miller i feel will play a majority of the year along with Ben Griffiths, who when drafted was said to be the next Richo, plus another young fella in Astbury. Not world beaters, but Miller more so than the others will be able to take a bit of attention away from Jack, making the opposition play 1 on 1 with Jack

Our midfield is going to be pretty good this year with the likes of Jackson, Foley, Deledio, Cotchin, Martin, Grigg, Houli, Conca, Deledio and Edwards all running through there at some point in time. Not up with the best, i understand that, but we will improve a bit this year. My main worry is still containing big forwards from the opposition. Moore, Thursfield, McGuane and Gourdis are not big enough at present to stop a Brown or Cloke IMO.

Not looking for bites CK...it's Richmond! That's like picking on an old lady or a blind person with a sick seeing eye dog. Richmond went to Jack 38% of the time last season with the next most used forward option of Post and Collins who is no longer with the club.

Richmond remain a young list that has a lot to learn..that is irrefutable. Your forward line 'options' are laughable. Miller has proven himself to be a dud time and time again...calling him mediocre would flatter the guy. Griffiths has played about four matches and is rawer than your skin after a day at the test without sunscreen. Astbury has a solid record of not getting the nut.

It sounds like you'll have to revamp your game plan a bit and the last time your blokes did that it took you ten weeks to win a game.

REB

Richmond are still a long, long way off finals and will win 6-8 games.

The Tigers will continue to build and improve from last season and will finish 9-10 IMO.

We'll finish better than 15th, getting Foley back is a huge plus, ansd Cotch is as fit as he's ever been apparently, getting through his first full pre-season. Grigg helps the midfield a bit, but I'm not yet sold it was worth moving Collins on, thought he should've had a regular spot. Getting rid of Tambling was a good move.

I'm happy with the back half, it's still the forward half that will take some time. Riewoldt can't do it all himself, and I've never been a fan of Miller. Post and Griffiths need to play as much as possible, and the coaching staff need to work out whether Nahas is part of their long-term plans or not (hopefully he is). If he is, leave him there, small forwards will have their bad games, moreso when playing in an ordinary side.

A stronger midfield should see us finish 10-13 but still a long way off finals.

I'm still angry we moved Collins on. Damn I liked him as a player. That effort against Sydney last year was pretty 'special'

I'm as pessimistic as the next Richmond supporter, but even I don't think we'll get the spoon.

We might win as many games as the Gold Coast, but we'll both win more than West Coast.

Joe who? We won't finish bottom. I believe that will fall to either port, Brisbane or WC

Port will not finish bottom.

West Coast or Gold Coast will. Richmond just might.

Port won't finish last. I reckon he's wrong as well but I reckon it will be Gold Coas that will get the spoon. They'll be a second bye in the second half of the season as the young bodies get sore. An interesting stat about the Suns is that not only are they the youngest list but also the tallest. They are going to be seriously scary in a few years time but this year they'll be everyone's bitches IMO.

I Don't think port will finish bottom either. Added them in to simply get you into the thread and it worked ;)

Indifferent start by us. One great quarter and 3 bad quarters.

Cotchin was superb after half time. Conca looks the goods. Deledio can't play that bad again. Newmann led from the front.

And we still have the most exciting and crowd drawing player in the comp in Riewoldt. Any time the ball is close to him, the crowd gets excited. This bloke is definitely the next richo. Wears his heart on his sleeve. Gives it to his team mates. Kicks goals, but what goes undetected is his great tackling skills.

Not all doom and gloom for us.
