ST KILDA legend Darrel 'Doc' Baldock has been admitted to a Launceston hospital after suffering a stroke.
Baldock, who skippered the club's only premiership side in 1966, is reported to be gravely ill after suffering his fourth stroke.
The 72-year-old has been visited by former teammates, with serious concerns held for his health.
Baldock is one of the most revered and decorated players in the club's history.
He played 119 games for the Saints from 1962 to 1968 and booted 237 goals.
He won the club's best-and-fairest award three times and was its leading goal kicker four years running.
On his retirement, Baldock returned to his home state of Tasmania where he was elected to state parliament. However, he returned to coach the Saints from 1987 to 1989, suffering his first stroke during his first season in charge.
He has been inducted into both the St Kilda Hall of Fame and the Australian Football Hall of Fame and was elevated to Legend status by the League in 2006.
