Grand Final - take two....

Postby A Mum » Sat Sep 25, 2010 6:36 pm

Demetriou - on the radio saying they are not going to dumb down the Grand Final 'reply'
as it is still a grand final and should have all the trimmings, but it's all surreal and details will be rolled out as decided.

Sooo...

Who's going to win??

We heard Hayes, so spent he's lost his voice?
They're all going to be so tired I'd imagine, surely wouldn't train them too hard this week.

Looks like I'm the first to actually vote...

Saints for me...

Magpies thought they had it in the bag. By the end of the game, Saints were dictating terms...

If Magpies play Davis again they are buggered...

McEvoy will come in for Gardiner.

I didn't know who would win before (now I know why), and I haven't got a clue who will win this time.

I'm gonna stick with the Magpies. I have no reason to change my mind, I still think they can beat the Saints and win the flag.

Got flukey and picked the draw after a dream Monday night, Collingwood should have buried the Saints in the 1st 1/4 and been at least 5 up, let alone the Saints horrid 2nd 1/4, early in the 3rd Collingwood looked tired and I think it will be the same next week, their game plan is good but after so many weeks giving them tired legs, Saints by 17 points next week

I think the result today showed up the odds this week as being too swayed to Collingwood and we'll see a more balanced set of predictions this week. I think St Kilda had slipped under the radar a bit.

Its been comfirmed that if another draw takes place next week, two five-minute periods to be added in the event of another draw.

Which team do you think would now be more confident going into next week? Which team would feel more like today was one that got away?

I reckon St Kilda would be feeling pretty confident having run down two 3-4 goal deficits and would be the most relieved to get a second shot at it as Collingwood could have put the game away by half time. I think this is what drove Maxwell's comments after the game but that's just my speculation.

Damn straight Hondo...

Two big comebacks in the context of such a low-scorer, and with the Woods such raging favorites, the Saints easily take the most out of this...

Fair dinkum my respect for Nick Maxwell has gone down big time.

Everyone knows the rules in regards to drawn grand finals and I hope there's no knee jerk reaction to his idiotic comment at the end of the game.

Typical AFL mentality, decide a whole season in 10 minutes

It wont happen 2 weeks in a row so it wont matter

Theoretically though, what if it did...?

Yes they've said they'll play extra time... but what if they hadn't...?

Would you keep sending them out week after week...?

why not?
One will win eventually and you would have to say any premiership decided over more than 1 week has been fought hard for and very deserved

I've been reading posts on another forum about this issue, and what is making me laugh most is if one of the teams won today, and there was no match next week, you'd get people whingeing about there being no footy. A miracle has happened, they get to watch another (hopefully) great game of footy like they witnessed today, and they're STILL whingeing :)

while there haven't been many draws in grand finals i believe the 'replayed' grand finals are blowouts
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway
