I'm glad Barlow got picked.
That would be a pick up for him

Good to see Brett Kirk getting the recognition he deserves. Will go down as one of the all time greats at the Swans with the likes of Paul Kelly - Just shows how highly he is regarded amongst the other players and teams!

Swan, Hodge, Ablett - Rekon that could be the top 3 to the brownlow as well

Once you free a voting system up from 3-2-1 per game I think you get a better result which is why this award seems often to produce the better (more deserving) winner

Well done Dane Swan. Not only has he had a great year he scored a mountain of points for my supercoach team! :)

Agreed Wedgie, That's because it's picked by the people who know the game best, the players.

Well done Swanny and Hodgey, most courageous!! Get around him! :D

I think prestige comes with longevity and in time the AFLPA MVP will become more valued than the Brownlow but for now, IMO, the Brownlow is more prestigious.

Swan a deserved winner.

They see and hear the qualities he posseses on the field and the way he conducts himself with the media. IMO Maxwell is a little undisciplined, great leader but tends to be a bit clumsy when applying pressure on the ball carrier.
It would have to be a great honour as nearly all captains in the AFL are all deserved captains. Brown, Goodwin, Judd, Pavlich just to name a few.

Isn't the MVP voting system 3-2-1 and the rest are just a single vote?

I agree that it should be, but the AFL executive and the media still prefer the Brownlow Medal. As a player, I'd prefer to be honored by my peers rather than umpires, but that's me.

The Brownlow Medal concept is flawed. I think there's still room in football for an umpires' award, but it shouldn't carry the prestige it does. To me, the most presitgeous award in football is Best & Fairest in a premiership team.

MVP is a great system because it is not the "best and fairest" just the best. Club Best and Fairest are really just that now days arent they? Not sure if any club would make someone inelligable if they were reproted?

Brownlow has and still will allways have a place though, good to see when a brownlow and MVP are the same player, like last year and im thinking this year.
