Likely Finals Programming?

I'm interested in getting peoples educated guesses using the past as a resource to work out which finals will be on at which times in week 1 of the finals. I know spots 5-8 are still to be decided so if scenarios for most likely and other scenarios would be good. I'm booking my accom for week 1 of the finals now and am reluctantly doing so under the assumption Geelong will be playing Fri night, Sat arvo or Sat night. Am I fairly safe?

If I was to have a guess, I would go this way;
Coll v Bulldogs and Geel v St K will fill the two night game slots, but either one could be placed in the Friday / Saturday position.

Fremantle, wherever they finish on the ladder, will play Saturday day. Fremantle are not going to be scheduled into Saturday night with a national viewing audience and they won't be scheduled into Sunday, because a 9 day break after round 22, and then a potential 6 day break into week two travel (if they win), would be too hard an ask of them. Therefore, that leaves Saturday day only as the slot they will play win.

If Fremantle finishes in the 5 v 8 match, that will mean that Coll v Bull will be played on Friday night, as the loser of Friday night and the winner of Saturday day need to have similar breaks going into week two of the finals. the Coll / Bull loser will have one day longer rest as the higher-ranked team.

If Fremantle finishes in the 6 v 7 match, that will mean that St K v Geel will be played on Friday night, on the same scenario above.

You can't play the loser of a Friday night double-chance match against a winner of a Sunday elimination match, because that is only a five-day break into the next week.

Thanks mate! :)
Girls will be happy as they'll get Sat to shop and I might take in a VFL game if there's one close to town.

Kerry, Andrew here, you OK with broadcasting Freo Carlton on Fri night or would you rather have Cats/Saints or Coll/Dogs??

Freo will get the graveyard Sat arvo shift

Under that scenario, you get the loser on Friday night playing the winner from Sunday, with a two-day break difference.
They can't play Friday night, as Sunday's winner has only a five-day break, and the AFL won't forgo the Friday night slot.

Can't play two games at the MCG on the one day. Therefore one of the top four games is Friday night and one is Saturday night, for both crowd numbers and tv numbers.

Yep, and by virtue of finishing top 4 the Friday night loser will have deserved the extra break. Plus, at this point the Bulldogs would be "away" and Sydney at "home".

One thing for sure and certain is Fremantle will not host a Friday night or Sunday game. The Sunday game will have to be in Melbourne, for if it was in Perth the team travelling there ( I see it as Hawthorn ) will be severely disadvantaged if they win then have to travel home to a team who played on the Saturday.

Go Sydney. I'd rather the Cats play on Friday night. That way we get at least a seven day break if we get done by the Saints in what will be a very close call for mine.

Yeah ditto, mind you Im just happy its not a Sunday game.
I will go to either Fri or Sat night but a Fri night game leaves me an entire day/night in Melb to do as I please. :)
