Brownlow Medal 2010

Postby lebron » Fri Aug 20, 2010 1:19 pm

Just wondering people's thoughts on this years' Brownlow Medallist. I hope this thread hasn't been done. As a bit of a gambler I have put some money each way on a couple of outsiders. I don't think Dane Swan will win it, his year was better last year, and other players will take votes off him as they have had better years. I don't think Ablett will win, besides last wek he won't get votes in the second half of the year. So IMO I think i will be won by about 24-25 votes and my picks are;
Adam Goodes
Lenny Hayes
Scott Pendlebury
And a little bit on Ryan Griffen at huge odds, because of the start to the year!

Anyone else?

i thin swan is a red hot chance this year as he was predicted to poll plenty last year and got bugger all and the umpires got some flack about it, so im thinking this year the umpires will be looking out for him abit more often and has had some big numbered games this year, will be right up there with them,

on the night they give a market for who will be winning after round 12 or something which i have had some success with in previous years and will be on
Barlow
sandilands
griffen
ablett
all depending on odds

You don't like his chances REB? I think he would be doing ok up until about Rd12, which is when I've stopped putting money on him too! I think Scott Pendlebury is a real chance! Atleast 5 best on grounds with another 2 clear 2nd best ons!

Nope. I reckon blokes who can kick it to a team mate and keep the ball in play occaisonally are a better chance of polling Brownlow votes. As for Pendles more than one Pie fan has been online to state that he hasn't had the season that many have expected of him.

I'm not so sure why you reckon Swanny won't poll well. The umps would have been embarrassed a bit by his low tally last year and he'll poll very well this season.

But I just don't think Swan has the impact of other gun players. Ablett can play five mintes, have 4 clearances and kick 3 goals. Swan would rack up 7 touches in a 5 minute good patch, one would go sideways, 2 would be a 1-2 with a team-mate and he'd get a goal. I think Hayes will poll enormously during the middle of the year and is a chance also. And with Goodes, he is a proven vote getter and they have won enough games for another triple brownlow medallist!

Dane Swan to be right up there... as should be Luke Hodge.

I think Barlow will be leading until his injury... :?

My roughie for the last couple of months has been Adam Goodes, and he'll be the one that gets my $$$

I guess he is no chance considering we only have 6 wins and 2 games remaining!
