why is the loyalty to the club which give him the opportunity to play AFL and in his home state. With free agency and new clubs more and more players will leave because of money which is very disapponting.

he is a injury prone player, i hope this comes back bite him not the adelaide crows.

Apparently Nathan Bock is the worst player to play AFL now.... according to a few Crows fans.

Righto.

So a bloke can't go where the money is and has to stay somewhere for loyalty.

Where's the loyalty when a club de-lists a bloke ? Where's the loyalty when they drop a bloke for personal reasons ?

Works both ways. Footy is a business regardless, and if someone's business can pay you more then the one you're currently employed at, and the conditions look good if not better why wouldn't you go.

I posted this in the Crows room, so I'll replicated it here, as it'll get deleted over there

Very good player he has been in recent years for the crows.

I expect this move to be a win-win situation. Allows Davis to cement a spot down back, Walker his spot back in the side (im assuming).

Bocks last two years have not been great, injury prone etc: but he is a quality back at his best.

Crows will get some compensation, and maybe that player will be apart of the next premiership at the crows? Who Knows?

For mine, both sides will take a positive outlook on this.

I cant blame Bock for going, and its good he told the Crows before the season was out, in the end costing himself 2 match payments for the benefit of the future side of the crows!

Bock was never going to be around for your next serious run at a flag, this just makes the backward thinking people down there have to act and play a younger person at all costs.

If most of us were offered the biggest pay packet of our time in the last third of our working life, most of us would probably take it and be grateful for the chance. Nathan Bock can hardly be blamed for thinking about his life after football financially, as well as the chance to be part of a brand new club.
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...

I accept "loyalty" to an extent.

The club who gives a guy a contract, and the chance to prove himself, owes a club a certain amount of loyalty, because without that club, they mightn't have been given the opportunity to make such a profitable life for themselves.

HOWEVER, for an AFL footballer, it is employment.

Now how many of us would not make a change in their employment for more money? Answer- most of us.

How many of us would change for a truckload more money, which in turn provides much better financial security for us and our family.
Still most of us.

How many of us, with a "main" career virtually over by 35, would not seek the last part of our career to be the most profitable possible? Still most of us.

I can come up with a few more points, but if we put ourselves in Bock' situation, but put our own jobs in there, most of us would take not think twice.

Is it different for a footballer???

Big reaction because he is the first, going to be a dozen other clubs whinging soon and they may lose players younger than 27 who have not started getting injuries. Win for Bock, win for Adelaide. Davis will be as good

Spot on mate. This will only be the tip of the iceberg. Wait until Ablett formally announces he's going.

Cant blame Bock for going, i would if i was in his situation. From a Crows supporters view, i am sorry to see him go - has been a great player for us and All-Aust defenders dont grow on trees. He is replaceable though. Hell, we may even start kicking the ball forward from defense without him ! ;)
