Rucci's article today suggests the following

Chad Cornes to Hawks
Daniel Motlop to Freo
Dean Cox on the move...

Pav to stay at the dockers

Who do you think will be at a new home in 2011?

Whos off to the Gold Coast!?

I think the time is right for Adelaide to pursue a big trade a la Darren Jarman in 1996.

The current squad has plenty of potential talent, but the last couple of weeks have shown there will be a severe lack of senior leadership next year to help them realise it.

They may have to bite the bullet and sacrifice a couple of the talented youngsters on the trade table to secure an established talent with around 200 games under the belt. Preferably a midfielder.

Interesting that I hear both Salopek and Krakouer are off to the Gold Coast. They can only take one un-contracted from each other AFL club, so they cant be getting both.

i did hear that Chris Knights wants to return to Victoria.. any ideas to what he would be worth?

I'd love to see Ryan Griffin at the crows!

Salopek wanted in Vic too and out of contract I believe .. Could he price himself out of Port's reach in the PSD if a suitable deal couldn't be brokered? (presuming he did want to head home)

To secure a 200 game midfielder you need to put something serious on the table. Chris Knights would not command anywhere near enough.

I would be offering Nathan Bock personally. Graham Johncock would be another one. I rate them as players and would hate to see them go, but you need to be fair dinkum if you want to secure a decent trade.

This years draft is likely to see alot more player for player trades rather than draft picks due to the compromised draft. If Knights was to leave the Crows he would likely be heading back home to Vic, and would be unlikely to be traded for a draft pick. Griffin appears likely to get another contract for 12 months, and would fetch more in the WA trade market than the Vic theoretically. Therefor for Adelaide to make a big trade, ala Jarman it would have to do a package deal to one of the weaker Vic sides who want a couple 22-23 yr olds for an older player who doesnt fit into their premiership window but probably fits into Adelaide's. An example would be a Reily and Knights trade for a Drew Petrie or Brad Green. Im not suggesting these trades, merely examples as I would love Knights to stay, Radar however for a Lindsay Thomas type player would be something I'd love to see.

True, but is a HBF or BP role easier to find than a midfielder?

The Crows don't have a lot of trading options to be honest .. Given Dangerfield, Tippett, Walker, Henderson and Vince are probably untouchables, what do they have left that would command decent value in return?

Blokes like Knights and Reilly, to differing extent, would only bring in a player of minimum stock unless they were packaged with a player above and/or draft pick(s).
Would have to come from Thompson, Bock or Johncock I'd think and whether the Crows would be prepared to move on any of them I don't know.

They probably have Van Berlo as an untouchable, but I'd certainly be seeing if there was any interest (and to what extent) out west, and perhaps Griffen (as much as I dont mind him) could hold some interest, especially if the WCE were to move Cox along?

I'd like to see Brisbane trade Sherman, Buchanan, Hawksley, Johnstone, Selwood and Stiller.
All useless.

I don't reckon they'd get much for Buchanan mate, Selwood could hold some small interest, probably a toaster for Stiller .. Sherman could probably interest someone, as would Johnstone because he does carry and AFL clubs crave that, despite the clangers he can throw up.

I think people underestimate how good Knights was last year, and how good he can be. He is an absolute untouchable for me, and due to his injury this year, you'd only get 50 cents in the dollar.

Only reason to even consider trading is if he forced a trade.

And just like the Jarman trade, I would be raiding the hawks again. Sellar and Moran for a Sewell or something like that would give that extra midfield class we are lacking. Surely there has to be some salary cap pressure around the Hawks.

They can snaffle extra players from one club from the PSD Booney.
