Burton will retire at seasons end, but:

".... he said if his form didn't warrant a recall to the elite level, he did not want to be gifted an AFL farewell game."

Well done Brett, some of those marks were rippers over the years, the most exciting forward at the crows since Modra.

You don't rate D Jarman.

Well done birdman on a great career.

Congrats to Burton.

Don't consider him one of the "great" AFL players, but could certainly do some amazing things on his day...

Well now this is not a surprise at all. The issue that is ging to come up is that Burton probably should not have played on this year. The others maybe but Burton was really struggling last season.

So now they will by seasons end lose Goodwin, Burton and of course Edwards is already gone. Now add to that Hentschell who I would say after his unlucky run with injuries that he will probably get the chop. I would suggest thats where it will end for the crows as thats leaves 4 new places for younger players which considering teh experiance that has left is a fair bit.

Anyway congrates to Burton on a good career, he certaintly wasnt boring!

always exciting yet at sometimes frustrating to watch, i wonder whether mickey godden can convince him to play the finals with wwt (presuming they make it) ?

i'll predict it now neil craig will say at the end of the year (if not earlier) ''we are in a rebuilding stage at the footy club''

well done to 'the birdman'

Spot on. When I first saw this guy I thought 'cripes how good is this bloke going to be' but he never quite got there due to injury and a lack of nous which saw him spending the majority of his career attempting to jump on people's heads.

Will always remember his very impressive debut season. In a bleak season for Adelaide, he has a rare highlight.

Solid career.

From the BEST JOKES thread:

DIGNITY!!!!!

He's realised that he's no longer good enough for the Crows best side (which is saying something), and said he'll only have a farewell if his form warrants it.

Brett Burton, it's taken until the end of your career, but I rate you!
