I see alot of arguments both for and against this rule.
I beleive that the rule should be introduced to simply eliminate the stupid 1 week penalties and ridiculous fines. It imo could work if you had a "4th" umpire in the stands who continously monitored the play on a camera of whom will send off the offending player the next time that play is stopped. This would eliminate the argument that "If they are not guilty then that side has suffered a disadvantage" .
Yes fine blokes who get sent off also, but give blokes holidays who honestly deserve it and not just to keep "Role Models" image in tact.
I would like to see peoples pros and cons and diferent ideas.

A good idea LK but I reckon it might prove difficult to monitor

It may be worth a trial in the manner you proposed: "...if you had a "4th" umpire in the stands who continously monitored the play on a camera of whom will send off the offending player the next time that play is stopped."

I though the punch in the guts ?Vince got from a Richmond player after the play had moved on last week would be one.

Ridiculous - if they cant get the tribunal right after several days of scrutiny, how can they get it right after several minutes?

No lawyers involved, and only one trained umpire viewing the video, and it is all over before any debate or lobbying can start?

The umpire would communicate to the field umpire through an ear piece.

Unduely rough play, minor striking offences and other more minor offences. It would not be hard to monitor it as the 4th umpire would have access to different angles. You would only do it when it's dead set obvious and beyond doubt that the offence was intentional or reckless.

Obvious instant send offs would be for incidents like the Barry Hall incident against the West Coast player.
Its a joke that a player should be able to complete the match whilst his opponent is on his way to hospital as a result of a blatant, deliberate King Hit.

Please, let's not introduce another rule that is subjective and requires 3 umpires to interpret the ruling consistently within the confines of 1 game. They've proven that their interpretation differs from quarter to quarter, umpire to umpire. Giving them another rule just makes it more difficult to gain any consistency.
