Home of the blues, all Carlton talk here......
reckon the blue may struggle a bit with the loss of Fev up forward.

Not sure that we'll struggle. Basically I'm not sure what to expect at all. We will need quite a few goals out of our midfield but I will need to see how we structure up forward before I make any predictions on how we'll go.
Hopefully it's a blessing that Fev is gone and we start looking at all the options down there instead of being Fev-centric.
Our mids should be better with another year under their belts but some pace definitely needed to be added and defensive pressure was another area that lacked from the them last year. They better have worked on that through the summer.
Jarrad Waite back will add some flexibility and Nick Stevens gone is also a bonus
I hope that Ratten continues with giving Jordan Russell a role on a HBF as he really came into his own in the last few games of the season.
At the moment I expect us to lob around the same position as last season but I may revise that once I see them play.

"year of the unknown" should've been our motto this season. I don't know what to expect either. Suffice it to say I won't be surprised if we go backward this season, albeit slightly.
With Kruezer and Judd penned in to play forward, they could be the revelations of the season, or 'oh well we tried' experiments. Still see our backline as a weakness and now without a key forward, that too could be another weakness. Strong through the midfield but overall lacking key position players capable of holding strong forwards, or kicking key goals.
8-12th.

Carlton supporters, Chooseday Night Football is the 99 Prelim Final. Fox Sports 2, now!
Great game, I was there sitting amongst Essendon supporters. Still the greatest game I've been to.

At the time, I worked with a couple of Carlton fans and they were that happy that they didn't care whether they won or lost the following week.
As for this year, anywhere between 6th & 12th.

I keep thinking - Yarran, we picked him ahead of Rich. IDIOT THINKING.......
He'll last three years at best that bloke.

I know it's only NAB Cup but Carlton seem to be struggling up forward tonight. Plenty of able crumbers but I reckon they need a strong marking/leading forward to replace Fev.

Looks like Carlton don't have a forward line as well as no defence.
With no Judd, Fev and Murphy? could there be a big upset Rnd 1?

Yep. You and the general population of football followers are correct! Not taking the pi$$ but we've got zero forward line to speak of. I don't know exactly what we're hoping will happen just yet.

No, but it will be a damn site closer than people might've expected.

Hmm...
You still need to be able to deliver it to someone.

It didn't help that the delivery into the forward line was poor at best

Brad Fisher out for the year with a knee.
Will give one of the rookies a chance to be upgraded now.
Levi Casboult may be a chance.....

Terrible start for the blues last night. Losing Fisher has just compounded it.
I thought the worst sign for Carlton was the fact their two worst players for the night. Were their 2 star recruits. One of the worst games I have ever seen Brock Mclean play he looked slow, fat, disinterested and simply refused to chase.
Lachie Henderson WTF ??????

Brock should of shook Kirks hand, then he might of gone easy on him.

McClean will be better for the run, but the one issue is that Brad Fisher went down with a knee which is a loss.
Henderson is a work in progress, still only early but plenty to work on for the blues.

That's because he is slow and "not lean". His strength is in packs on cold blustery days at the G. Unfortunately, Carlton play at sterile Docklands. Still, he is a piece of the jigsaw Carlton didn't have and he will need time to gel.

I know what to expect. A win over Richmond who will be lucky to win a game all season then a string of losses. Then you'll get a late season recovery and finish 10-12. The attack will take some time to gell and relying on Waite to slot back into the side and dominate is a big ask from a guy who is coming back from an ACL. I'm not sure how Jordan Russell over Nick Stevens represents an improvement to your side but I know Nicky was one of your favourites.
You'll be asking too much from too few all year and while getting rid of Fev is probably the way forward from a long term point of view it will represent short term pain as teams like Hawthorn, West Coast and North will go straight past you this year.
