Hogg Shield 2010 Sign up thread

This thread is for anyone who wants to join the Hogg Shield in Season 2010. Yeah, I know it's only December but organising these leagues at the last minute is a nightmare. I'd like to be able to fill the leagues much faster than I did last year and hopefully this time around we won't have a league full of randoms in the lower divisions.

What is the Hogg Shield?

The Hogg Shield is a series of leagues in the Herald Sun SuperCoach online fantasy football competition. The Hogg Shield will be in its fourth season in 2010. Last year there were five divisions in the Hogg Shield: Hogg Premier League and Hogg Divisions I, II, III and IV.

Most Hogg Shield participants are from this site, AFL Online and from Ipswich City Council but they include people from all over Australia. The reigning premier, Reuben is from WA. The ultimate aim of the divisional system is to increase the standard of Hogg Premier and Hogg Division I which was pathetic last season.

How do I get into Hogg Premier League?

The only way to get into the premier league is to qualify for the Grand Final of Hogg Division I. The Grand Finalists of every division get promoted and the losers of the relegation finals get demoted.

Invitations will be sent out to coaches who have qualified for Premier League. If anyone does not claim their place the next seeded coach will then receive an invitation. The 2010 seedings for all 2009 coaches will be posted in this thread at a later time.

I was in last year. How do I sign up again?

I need you to PM me with your email address so I can update my database. I will send out the invites for the leagues once SuperCoach is up next year.

I am a newbie. Can I still join the Hogg?

Yes. Please include any past results in SuperCoach (link if possible) so that we don't get any Sharks in with the Goldfish. New users will have to start in a lower division but there might be up to two new divisions depending on interest. PM me with your email address to receive your invite.

GET ON THE HOGG IN 2010.

regards,

REB

We've got enough coaches lined up to fill five divisions fairly easily. My pre-season target of six is quite achievable. Quite a lot of new coaches have signed up already. If we fill six divvys that is 96 teams in the Hogg.

Now that Hawthorn's hard nuts are like so 2008 I will be coming up with a new name for my team in 2010

Sticking with the "H" theme options are Hounds, Hyenas, Hornets, Huskeys ... it's not a great letter of the alphabet really for animals. I won't use "Hawks" for obvious reasons.

.... just in case anyone cared

I am not a Hawks man Moe :D

It was just that "Hard Nuts" started with H and was such a popular buzz term at the time

Hondo's Hard Nuts need re-branding

HOGG UPDATE

The 2010 seedings have been published in the Sign up thread on the Dreamteam board. If you are a new coach but want to start off in Div V instead of Div III let me know. If I have the wrong poster linked to the wrong team again please let me know (via PM).

I'll update the seedings to reflect any changes as well as the amount of slots that are still left in the Hogg Shield.

regards,

REB

There has been a fantastic response from new coaches from this site and numbers are looking really good for the 2010 Hogg. There are still quite a few coaches who have yet to make contact though.

I have set up a Hogg Shield Group in Facebook for those that are interested

http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=ho ... 6854102045

I have posted a few links to some of the resources I use when playing the Hogg with a brief review of each one.

REB

You came good at the end Bluey but you've got to stay out of the bottom four in any of these Hogg Leagues or you face a relegation final.
