Honestly, with having no previous issues with the man. Was he at the most fault of St Kilda losing the GF. 2 players out of 44 were terrible in the last quarter. Blake leaving Hawkins unchecked 30metres from goal. 5 minutes later shirks a hardball which a Geelong player pushed forward. Lastly(and forgivable) misjudged an incoming ball for Rooke to mark. PLayer no.2 Gilbert, never have been a fan and while he has improved this year in minor round games, class shines through in games like todays and he disappeared, or when he did find the ball used it poorly. I thought Jones was ok on Ablett but needs to learn to kick on his right foot, looked terrible in the last quarter was pushed onto his right. After Lyon asked concentration and commitment from his players at 3/4 time i was disappointed to see Blakes effort(imho). Bring on the comments.

Absolutely spot on. He was
the culprit...
Simply completely, massively, undeniably failed on the day

Blake was solid for most the match, but yes a couple of blunders in the last.
Is Milne a flat track bully?
His finals performances were deadset ordinary.

yep i missed that one, was a day they needed him to thrive also. With greasy conditions Kosi and Riewoldt spilling grabs, the game could have been his.
Overheard one fan complaining that if the game was at docklands his beloved saints would have won by 5 goals........

and they were definately the better team. No probs maybe he feels like Geelong fans felt last year?

So close at 3/4 time. Can imagine what Bomber Thompson said, "do you want to feel the same pain as last year" dont think much more had to be said, saints very gallant in defeat, perhaps missed a few shots early on that may have made a difference but in the end it wasnt to be, definately nowhere near disgraced

Thats the Saints probs, they need to get out on the G a bit more in open climate

absolutely! how was the open goal in the second quarter on the run, in the clear and grubs it about 20m for Scarlett to clean up and reload... terrible!

Then soon after gave away a 50 mtr penalty that resulted in a goal to the Cats if I remember rightly. Crucial moment of the game, Saints had dominated the quarter up until that stage and yet had not capitalised on the scoreboard at all.

I don't care who's fault it was the saints lost, but no AFL team with Raph Clarke playing in the team could possibly have earnt the right to win a GF. He is deplorable!

Exactly.
Surprised it took that long for his name to be mentioned.

Blaming it on a few players is a bit unfair. I think what we should be doing, is congratulating both teams on putting up such a fantastic display of tough and hard football. There are always players who are going to have a quiet game and unfortunately, they are more exposed to criticism if it happens in a GF. They are only human after all. Go Cats!!!!!!!!

I'm a changed man. I had a life changing experience Sat at the MCG. Two hours of extreme stress gave me a new perspective on life

R Clarke, Gilbert, Dawson all wobbly - Gilbert has had a good year though.
They remind me of Scott Stevens - seem to do there job week-in, week-out but just get the feeling they will cost you an important game along the way by stuffing up, or getting a bag kicked on them.

Saints don't seem to have realised that Raphael Clarke is just not up to it - whether it be a final or a minor round game and you have to wonder whether he was drafted in the first place because he was the best available choice at that time in the 2003 draft or because his brother was already on the list.

Unlike most teams where they are easily identifiable, who would you actually classify as Geelong's "last 5"?
Travis Varcoe IMO
Wocijincki possibly.
Enright or Kelly? Hardly, just because they are unobtrusive, less fanfare types of players.
Blake and Byrnes perhaps? Pretty stiff on those blokes I would have thought.
Hawkins? But is now developing. Similarly, wasn't a huge wrap for Taylor at first, but has developed well, culminating in a great effort on the weekend.
