the rule of thumb is the 2 winners of the top 4 play off (in the first week) nearly always make it through to the GF (in my scenario Collingwood & WB)

I don't understand how people can think Adelaide will beat Collingwood. They lost to then no more than 3 weeks ago at AAMI, surely they wouldn't be able to turn that around in such short time and at the G.

Collingwood's form has peaked. They will be hard pressed to regain their late-mid season purple patch of form in time to win in the finals pressure cooker.
Western Bulldogs were not good last week. Collingwood were very medicore. The Crows on song at the G can beat Collingwood or the Bulldogs. Both teams were lacklustre, and with a finals spot up for grabs it was nothing like finals footy. I wouldn't be surprised if both sides went out in straight sets.

Blues, you must have a short memory mate because the CROWS beat the PIES this year. (And that was before Craigy revamped their structure and style of playing)

You people must be dreaming. Collingwood have been the most in form side leading into the finals. The Crows may have beaten them before the change of game plan but they lost to them after the change of game plan. They lost to the Bulldogs on the weekend but since round 11 they have won 10 games and lost 2 exactly the same as the Saints.

Since the mid year bye this is the form coming in:
Saints - won 10 lost 2 (loss against Ess and NM) out of 10 wins 4 against top 8 sides 2 against top 4 sides
Cats - won 8 lost 4 (lost to SK, Bris, WB and CARL) out of 8 wins only 1 against top 8 side - Adelaide
Bulldogs - won 9 lost 3 (lost to Coll, Stk and WC) out of 9 wins 4 against top 8 sides last 3 wins against top 8 sides - Bris, Coll and Geel
Pies - won 10 lost 2 (lost to Haw and WB) - out of 10 wins 5 against teams in the top 8
Crows - won 9 lost 3 (those three losses were against Geelong, St Kilda and Pies) Out of those 9 wins only 2 against those in the top 8 teams Carlton and Essendon (not the greatest teams currently in the top 8.

Out of the above I would take it that Coll and WB are the form teams coming into finals and you's are writing them off in straight sets. I would not get carried away with a win over Carlton I think they are one of the most overrated teams going around.

I can't believe that so many people are writing off the Saints. I've been posting gloom and doom in relation to the Cats over the last couple of weeks so this is completely with heart and not with logical deduction....

Week1
Adelaide to beat Essendon
Geelong to beat W Bulldogs
St. Kilda to beat Collingwood
Carlton to beat Brisbane

Week 2
Collingwood to beat Adelaide
W Bulldogs to beat Carlton

Week 3
Geelong to beat Collingwood
St Kilda to beat W Bulldogs

Grand Final
Geelong to beat St. Kilda

I reckon Essendon and Brisbane are going in understrength. I reckon Geelong will thrive in the wet on the MCG this weekend with the extra break. I reckon the Pies have peakd but will have a last hurrah and eliminate Adelaide at the G. I reckon Carlton can defeat Brisbane for the third time this year but will have their run ended by the Bullies. Head says a St Kilda flag but Heart says Cats. Both say a Saints v Cats granny despite the ground that has been made up by a few sides over the last few weeks. I reckon the top two have been playing silly buggers.
