Brown in his after match interview (while affected by concussion) has said that he hope Lloyd plays on and he should watch himself as the Hawks boys will remember the laying out of Brad Sewell. Brown also labelled Lloyd as the best sniper in the competition.
There will be a number of players coming under scrutiny
- Lloyd
- Ryder
- Atkinson
- Bateman
The Hawthorn vs Essendon rivalry continues

When he comes to his senses I hope he realizes he has made a goose of himself.Even though we have endured a dismal year the one thing I have watched and respected is the fact Clarko has not once (have not heard any post game stuff from this week)publicly shit-bagged his own players despite same lamentable sfforts during the year.I hope everyone else follows and at least goes down without anymore of that tripe.

With the p##s weak suspension of Buddy Franklin i think lloydee will be looking at some sideline time before the week is over.

Very true. I've said enough about the Franklin issue, but I will say I am very disappointed with Campbell Brown's comnments and he should get a "please explain" from the AFL. I know we all say things on the spur of the moment we have regretted later, but Campbell has been around long enough to know whatever you say to the media must be calculated, and unfortunately he allowed his emotions to get the better of him.
I know Clarko and the Hawthorn FC wouldn't be impressed, and you can expect a forthcoming fine either from Hawthorn/AFL or both. I love the way he plays, but sometimes he can really let himself down.

Lloyd is an AFL favourite - he'll just say sorry and all will be forgiven....in fact, they probably give him another couple of free kicks next Saturday for interrupting his week

Nah, he's gone! Good for the Crows ....
Clearly the Hawthorn players felt it wasn't an accident

There's some footage which shows Lloyd may have been pushed into it but it's a loose argument from what I could see.

On Ch. 10 They reckon Clarkson had a go at Lloyd as well after the siren. If he doesn't retire I reckon Lloyd will start in round 4.

Clearly not pushed. Hopefully he gets 6.

If Essendon try to use that as a defence (and they will), and the AFL accept it as mitigation, then we will finally have evidence that the AFL plays favourite and bends rules to suit themselves. Shoenmakers did have a hand on Lloyd's hip, but any force from that contact wouldn't have made Lloyd suddenly sprint 6-8 paces and cannon into Sewell, who was in the action of straightening up after picking up the ball.
Nope, Lloyd cannot defend himself iin this one, but somehow you just get the feeling the AFL has one more trick up its sleeve.
It's a classic, Franklin, the man who can't win a free kick versus the perennial diver who gets looked after by officialdom as if he were their love child, and whatever Bateman gets for belting him will be worth it.

Its funny, but before Buddys hooha I probably would have worn Lloyds bump. Dont get me wrong. I hate Lloyd, Esssendon and one of our own players getting annihilated, but in reality young Ryan should have protected Sewelly much better. I would then be expecting one of our own to "even" the score.
However, now, I hope they hang velvet- 4 weeks minimum.
Also if Ryder gets off it is unbelievable. It will show that punching is definitely OK, but bumping someone with the ball is not. A 180 reverse on what everyone was taught when learning to play.

Brown is a Moron. What a dumbass. Yes Lloyd hit him front on, but christ you reckon hes a sniper. bahahahahhahahaha God, Browney have a good look at some of things Hodge, Lewis, Bateman and well yourself do at times.
Agreed that Lloyds likely to get 3 or 4 weeks for that, but still a sniper?

There's a couple things I'm slightly struggling with here so here's my 2 cents worth.
Firstly, the intent from Lloyd in this incident. Similar to Buddy, LLoyd effected a hip and shoulder, but this time there was very solid contact to the head of Sewell unfortunately. He's in a bad way and I think I heard that he has a cracked a jaw. I know I'll be howled down for writing this, but I don't think Lloyd intended to be any more malicious than Buddy, but the outcome was obviously a lot worse.
Secondly, why the hysteria about whether Lloyd will get off and then the talk about legal action, yada, yada? I think Lloyd himself is resigned to the fact that he will get games, and the AFL tribunal process is so tight and the law about hits to the head so pedantic that there's virtually no way he can escape a penalty. Again, I don't think Lloyd's intent was purely malicious, but this sort of incident is exactly the type that the Adrian Anderson law change at the start of the year was brought in for.
Yes, I totally agree Buddy was stiff and I don't agree with the tightness of the law change from the Maxwell incident at the beginning of the year, but the match review committee, tribunal and appeals board all performed as they should have under the current law.
Let's not crucify Matthew Lloyd for an incident that occurred at the spur of the moment and deride his character as some revenge for the Buddy incident a week before.
Lloyd will go through the process exactly as Buddy has had to do and will take whatever medicine comes his way ... no more and no less.

I actually enjoyed Browny ranting- If Lloyd plays on next year, Brown has sold me a seat at the first Haw v Ess fixture for 2010...
And sorry Stan, yesterday's hit excluded, Lloyd is a pathetic sniper who fakes "uncoordination" when crashing into players knees and elbows first... has a long history...ask Josh Thurgood for starters.

And what is Campbell Brown going to do that he couldn't do yesterday? Tryhard toughguy. He had his chance yesterday and all he did was point the finger at the Bomber bench. Apparently he was having a whine on radio last night as well. Suck it up Princess. Lloydy will go and Brown will do bugger all when Hawthorn play Essendon next year or
he'll go......that's if Brown survives Thanksgiving......

Once again, a player speaks honestly (as Akka does) and gets derided. Yet if they bring out the cliches we call them boring. Honestly they can't win!
