Collingwood to win the flag!

Postby LBT » Sun Aug 23, 2009 4:38 pm

With the Saints having a mini implode against The Dons and the Roos, Collingwood are the form team in the comp, and as much as it pains me to say, they are in the box seat to win the flag.

 Value galore!!! I cant see where Collingwood will slip up. [*] But think that $3.50 is great value for the Saints and Cats as well.

Still suggests pretty good form....you can only beat who you are programmed to play in those 13 rounds.

Went to see the Pies yesterday and they won convincingly with minimal impact from Didak, Swan, Pendlebury and Davis. Cloke is also horribly out of form. Theyare peaking nicely but, as mentioned, haven't beaten the Cats or the Saints.

Talk about finals pressure - I reckon the Saints would be the ones most under it. Pretty hard to keep up that intensity for 22 weeks plus finals. Having said that, it's hard to see what they've had to play for in the last couple of weeks.

Saw the Bulldogs lose poorly against West Coast a mere two weeks ago. They rediscovered the killer instinct against the Cats, but who is really convinced about them?

Geelong have 4 or 5 changes every week. Stability is the recipe for success. They're on the ropes - have they got a "Thriller in Manila" in them?

No matter which match up you concoct from the top 4 - they're all juicy games. Throw in arrogant Carlton (one finals win and they will be) and it's a fantastic roster of matches coming up.

I agree McAlmanac.

What will work in Geelong's favour is that the other three sides have immense pressure on them to FINALLY win a flag. The Cats have got that monkey off their back.
I wouldn't downplay that factor either.

Bullies are sitting pretty, all the talk is about the top 3...Bullies have the talent to beat the Cats and Saints at their best, Im not sure Collingwood do....a very disciplined, tough defensive outfit but good enough to win this years flag, I doubt it

Saints to choke
Cats still have the power to go all of the way and will be the one to beat in a GF
Bullies always seem to faulter just before the GF
Blues - skudbuckets
Crows - not this year me thinks
Pies - been there too many times to get my hopes up just yet. Ask me at 3/4 time on the last day in September - mind you, I was there in '77............ I still remember the silence at the G in 1990 when we entered the time-on period in the last quarter - it was very eerie. I was at Vic Park later that night. A girl came up to me and asked what was wrong - we'd won - the young ones just dont understand.............

oh, i understand jimmy!

GF losses in 02 and 03, prelim loss in 07, the fact that, as you mentioned, we've been there too many times and failed also has me keeping a lid on my exitement. although, a little bit of anticipation has started to kick in.

and no, we havnt beaten geelong or the sainters, as we all know, we can only beat who we play, and the fact that we have been winning comfortably (apart from the hawthorn hiccup and the 1 point win against the gogs) indicates to me that we're still in decent form.

but hey, we all know anything can happen in september!
