Dwayne Russell AND Brian Taylor to commentate NBL games?

I read on another forum that supposedly Dwayne Russell will be the host/lead commentator of NBL basketball games this season for Fox Sports. I don't know if that means he will cease calling AFL games for Fox or not but does anyone know what if any background in basketball he has?

Dont now about his background but he'd probably do both similar to John Casey a couple of years back.
Ive heard him commentate other sport fairly well before, at least he has a decent voice and doesn't stutter, I wish more sports would get commentators like this instead of the AFL's recent failed experiment.

LOL ! Luke's problem was he was "scouting" out talent instead of watching the Netball....

Will be interested to see how he goes. Quartermain used to be a very good basketball commentator back in the early 90s on channel 10, back when the sport demanded a prime time slot (they were the days…). Clinton Grybas also had a basketball involved on the abc for a number of years too.
Darcy loved giving the viewers a detail Laura Geitz update at every opportunity

Sounds as though he's already rehearsing for a basketball gig with his calls of "from the paint" during the footy ... I didn't think any comment could rival his "and nails it" for annoying factor, but he could be proving me wrong.

His voice is OK but he does sounds very nasal. Not that I can talk because my voice is similar. And not that I've even really noticed it too much until this season since sounding nasal has apparently become a huge no-no in the commentary box.
It's more his style that isn't that great. CP, I hadn't thought of the "nails it" thing before but, you're right, he says it all the time!

Looks like Fox's basketball commentary team this season will be Dwayne Russell, Brian Taylor, Andrew Gaze and Shane Heal.

I thought Dwayne Russell did an alright job doing the women's Australia/New Zealand game last night.
