I recon Nathan has made the first mistake of his coaching career. Would have been a great job for his development. Colling wood must be throwing the world at him to stop him coaching elsewhere.

Thought there was more chance of Jeff Buckley coaching the roos next year.
Think Nathan can see himself at the helm of one of the "Big" Melbourne clubs to start off with...

Does that mean Dutchy can get rid of that ridiculous picture under his name.
I really enjoy reading his gambling tips but geez Buckley looks like he had one too many hard nights with Eddie.

I actually never thought that Buckley was this clever.
Going to North would have been coaching suicide...
He'll end up at Collingwood (eventually as senior coach) and have a much greater chance of success.
I don't think the North Melbourne $$$ would have had much of an impact on his decision making process.

I wouldn't have gone to that basket case either.
Anyway it showed how desperate the Kangaroo fans were in praying that an untried coach will come and save their club from extinction.

good work Buckley you will end up without a premiership as a coach. Collingwood will not win a flag under Mick or Bucks. North have a good young list injuries have hurt the roos this year Bucks had a excellent chance to mold a side and not be handed a side and he took the Pies.

This is the same team that has won a flag since your last one?

North offered him 2.4 million over 3 years
How would Laidley be feeling?

That's obscene money for someone with no track record in coaching. What will he get to assist at the Wobbles ?

NM are in for a few tough years I feel whereas the Pies are building a serious contender IMO. Geelong's window will close after this year and Saints aren't a young list.
I think his chances of a flag in the next 5 years are much > at Collingwood v NM. That's assuming Mick gives it away after 2 more years.

Sorry hondo but we'll still be a good side next year. We're 15-2 with a shocking run of injuries. That means not only are young players getting games, they are playing in winning teams. While discussing the premiership window for Geelong have a look at some of the other sides...they are miles off it. I'd suggest that the current top four plus Hawthorn and maybe your mob will be a genuine chance in 2010 but that would be about it. That doesn't look like a closed window to me.
Back on topic...some great work by Dutchy in this thread LOL.

REB, on Geelong (just IMO - could be wrong) in 2010:
Still a good, competitive side = yes
Standout, dominant team and premiership favourite = no, they'll be back in the top pack
You have some key players getting close to 28/29 and beyond (Corey, Ottens, Milburn, Scarlett, Chapman, Harley, Ling, Mooney, Rooke, Wojo, Enright) and going deep into September year after year takes its toll. Look at Brisbane, they still looked to have a team in their prime after 2003 but suddenly players starting breaking down, etc. I see this year's injury run repeating next year because the guys don't get that extra 4 weeks off and when that accumulates year after year then guys start pulling the pin at age 30. Already St Kilda have caught up to Geelong and there's no reason to suggest they won't be improved in 2010. We also have the 2008 premiers. Collingwood are looking very capable.
My feeling is Geelong team MUST win this year if they want that second flag to show for their brilliant last 3 seasons. I think they can do it.
I think the Crows are more like 2011-12 (hopefully!)

Just announced on radio that Mick Malthouse's contract has been extended for two years and Buckley is joining Collingwood as an assistant coach next year.

With Malthouse to move into the director of coaching role in 2012 and Buckley will get the main gig. I would love to see Buckley screwed ala Costello and see Collingwood win a flag in 2011, as much as it hurts to say that, the words between Malthouse, Eddie and Buckley would be great to watch.
Malthouse : I won the flag i want another 2 years as coach
Eddie: We have already promised the job to Buckley, what to do.
Buckley: Cmon Eddie give me the job you won't have to be my boy anymore if you give me the job.
Eddie: Ok Bucks the job is yours i don't really care about the club i just love you.

You comedy showed promise but the crowd started leaving when you said you wanted Collingwood to win the premiership.
