Moran gone for up to 12 weeks according to 5AA

Postby FD88 » Mon Jun 29, 2009 5:23 pm

The knee injury is more serious than first thought, I believe 5AA said it was a ruptured posterior cruciate ligament.

Real shame for him because he played an exceptional game on the weekend, the first time he seemed to bring the intensity, skills and work rate all at once. What does this mean for team selection? Probably a call-up for Sellar, but one wonders if McKernan will sneak in.

I reckon McKernan will come in before Sellar.

There was talk this morning on the radio that it will be McKernan who gets the call up. Good to blood another youngster. All the best to him if he gets his opportunity!

Is that the final nail in the coffin for Sellar if McKernan gets the nod ahead of him?

What has Sellar done anywhere to deserve a contract for the last two years? Enlighten me. No work ethic, slow, no football brain, immobile.

OK, at best in SANFL Reserves, fringe league player - But certainly not up to AFL level and NEVER has been.

I don't see why ... Sellar has be named as emergency lately a few times and in any case, he's predominantly a forward not a ruckman, so not an ideal replacement for Moran.

I still have my doubts about Sellar at the next level, but he has certainly got more confidence and improved markedly for the Bays this year.
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

The Crows signed him for 3 years when they drafted him, when they only had to sign him for 2 - their choice and they have to live by it.

He has been an important part of the Bays cog this year and has lifted, but Im unsure it will be good enough for AFL - time will tell

Sellar has been emergency for a number of weeks now. As a key position or ruckman though??? I would prefer McKernan but Sellar seems to be ahead of him in the pecking order. Also McKernan is a tiny bit taller and from what i can tell has a bigger vertical leap.

If we were bringing in a forward: Sellar
If we were bringing in a ruckman: McKernan

But with Maric and Tippett already in the side, and given Sellar has been EMG for the last month, I'd say Sellar is just in front. Hoping for McKernan though.

Seen Jimmy's last eight games?? Is arguably our most improved player at the Bay this year. He has been very confident on the lead and holding marks he would've dropped last year. Has been more than useful in the ruck relieving Trev and his of the ball work, tackling, chases, smoothers has been right up there.

Last year I had concerns about Sellsy but not this year. I hope gets a go in Moran's absence for a couple of weeks as his current form deserves it, IMO
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Good to hear an opinion on Sellar from the Bay, I haven't seen anything of him yet this year. Glad to hear he's going well, and good that we seem to have some depth on coverage for Moran. Ruck is where it's at at the moment, a real opporunity for someone on the list to stamp their authority on the role and make it their own.
