I thought we should merge the two threads to make one big Showdown thread in the AFL forum.
My thoughts on this game are: it will be tight as are most showdowns, will be low scoring but fairly free flow footy.
My Tip: Port by 15 points.

Hopefully its a fine day weather wise but i can't see Port beating the Crows, i think Port have been over-rated once again & i've been caught out badly when tipping for & against this mob.
Sorry but won't be getting my tip this week.
Crows by 27pts

Crows will shake off last weeks forgetful form to win with a bit more flair this week.
Adelaide by 22 points.

Crows are probably the safer bet because they're more consistent ... A few similarities appearing with the first Showdown last year when Port came out breathing fire, but it still wasn't off to knock the Crows off.
Smart bet is probably the Crows but I've never been that bright, so I'll take a punt on Port recapturing close to the Hawthorn form.

myth !! i would have thought it was 2 days
seriously though surely an extra couple of days to get over sore spots etc is beneficial to that team ?
i think a hot & cold port side will win this week because it's their turn to be hot

Port by 15 points in a boring, low scoring encounter.
With both coaches laughing at times over their teams silly mistakes.

Is a myth as good as a smile?

Port by 30 points, with the Cornes brothers leading the way with 30+ touches, and Taylor Walker snagging 6 sausage rolls in a 10 mark/8 tackle performance (I'm basing my guess purely on a Dream Team persepective).

well if that's the case, Chad will get a heap of it. Tippet and Walker will dominate for the Crows up front and Motlop at the other end will share the honours with Robbie Gray who will get heaps in the middle too teaming up with Krakour off of half back... and not forgetting Hartlett to carve up too...
that will satisfy my dream team and supercoach sides... i didn't realise i had so many Power players... that's not a good sign!!!

Chad is due a blinder, normally plays well in Showdowns. You would expect most players to lift their game a bit for this type of match.

If it's a flogging it could be a bit of a mythmatch.

Plenty of people will disagree with me here but I don't see the Power as on the rise at all - the Burgoyne brothers, Brogan, Lade, Chad, Kane, Motlop and co. are hugely important components of the side and aren't going to get any better than they are. Imo while their best is good enough to make finals, things are still to get worse before they get better (especially with Lade and Brogan approaching the end and no apprentice yet blooded).
In the wash-up though I'm finding it really hard to settle on a prediction for this one. The Crows have gone with a lot of youth this season but managed to stay competitive with both St Kilda and Geelong for large portions of matches, while the former absolutely smacked Port last week. Is that a fair means of comparison? The Power were well in control all the way against Melbourne at AAMI a few weeks back but the Crows, admittedly in very different conditions and away from home, squirmed over the line in one of the worst games of footy ever seen.
Port should go in favourites given their more experienced and mature group, plus there's the two extra days' break they've had, but we have no idea how the Adelaide youth will respond to the big occasion. Season 2009 is the best chance the Power will have to grab a couple of wins over the Crows for a while imo and yet I feel whichever way I go here, I'll be wrong. Port by 7 points.
