I thought Mitch Robinson might have got this one. Was between him and Rich tho.
Both had very good games. Mitch Robinson's game against the TIgers was bloody good.

I thought Rich was more influential personally but Robinson was very good. He will get nominated throughout the year. Pretty excited about the batch of youngsters coming through.

Carlton and Melbourne both had 4.

Sam Basham will surely take the award, absolute gun. The way he runs through the midfield gives me shivvers.

With Dayne Beams getting the nomination for Round 17, I wonder how much better does Greg Broughton have to play to earn one? He has been sensational this year and in my eyes, as good as Rich.

An issue with the rising star system is that it rewards a standout performance - you can be consistently good for the whole year but if every week someone else has a standout game then you can be overlooked. The chances of this happening tho are admittedly slim over the course of 22 weeks. I cant think of a season where a player who was a reasonable chance of winning it couldnt because he didnt receive a nomination.

As for Greg Broughton i have a feeling he might be too old for a nomination..??

I just checked, you are right, he was 22 at the start of this year, I thought he was younger as he was elevated from the rookie list.

Earlier today I received a payout on Sportsbet for my bet on Daniel Rich winning the Rising Star award, yet I haven't read anywhere that he's been officially declared the winner?

Only had $10 on him at $11 mate ... I know it's a common fact that he will win the award, I just found it odd that a betting agency would cough up the dough before they had to.
