VINCE, Bernie
$335,700
Does anyone else think that's got the potential to be insanely good value? He can go off and score huge!

Constance_Perm wrote:$9 with the sponsors, plus for that price you get every player other than Bock, Thompson, Edwards, Goodwin, McLeod and Porplyzia ... You guys that have watched the Crows thus far, how do you think he would be travelling at this stage?

When first drafted there were queries over his pace but he has since picked a yard or so up to be quite adequate for this level, and when you consider blokes like Bartel are arguably slower you can see it's no barrier. His footskills are sublime in all situations and his hands are as clean as you will see, not to mention his exceptional vision and ability to weave through traffic. I'd also go so far as to say that for effective extraction of the ball from congestion he is the best we've got. There are other strengths to consider - his overhead marking is probably the best of any midfielder in our 22, and his conversion in front of the big sticks, especially at key moments, is top notch.
Having got his first full pre season under the belt in 2008 we saw significant steps foward from the kid - highlights included a dominant midfield display against Sydney, a Showdown Medal-winning performance against Port, and his 30 possession 3 goal effort against Richmond at the G. He also performed against last year's premier with 24 possessions and a goal. Not only did he rack the touches up, he was genuinely damaging.
From what we've been told his pre season in preparation for 2009 has been completed without a hitch, which means he'll be fitter, stronger and faster this year to go with the experience picked up last season. If you asked me to pick our top 4 finishers in the club champion award he would be in that group, shaded only by Bock at this stage. Of course, Bock is 26 so we're probably seeing the best of him right now. Bernie's got plenty of improvement left, so I wouldn't be putting anything out of reach; consideration for AA, our highest vote getter in this year's Brownlow, these are the sorts of achievements I believe he's heading for in season 2009.
Sink a few dollars on him for the gold jacket.
