Looks like most of you were OTM, the AFL appeals board overturned the decision:

Hackham Hawk can sleep easy now, the AFL as he knew it is safe :D

At last we see some common sense in football. There's hope for the game yet. No way should Maxwell have had to go through this. It's time some of those sooky administrators got the hell out of the game.

First time I have ever cheered for good fortune at Collingwood!

Right decision was (eventually) made!

I will probably be abused for this, but i find it totally ridiculous that a ban of 4 WEEKS can then all of the sudden be completely thrown out. I dont think it deserved for weeks from the start, but its one extreme to the other to go from 4 to 0 weeks.

Good to see as absolutely nothing in it.
Shocking first decision but common sense prevailed.
Those involved with the initial decision should be fired.
Those who made the last decision should be applauded.

I find it staggering that he started at 3 then got 4 weeks after challenging the match review panels decision and now he all of a sudden he is free to play.

Something needs to be done about this system because at the moment it is a farce.

Exactly. The Match Review Panel and Tribunal need review after this debacle. They've clearly lost the plot.

Yeh, as if QC and a retired judge would have any F***ing idea. Those nobs are never in the real world.
Thats it for me with AFL, one extreme to another.

One of them was John Winneke. He played in the Hawks' 1961 premiership team.

What they need to do is put Dermi and Dipper on the Match Review panel...they probably wouldve given Maxwell games for going in too soft...

What a relief tho..

And cant wait for the 22 goal a piece shootout tonight between the Mighty Roos and the ever improving Blues!!!

Should never have gone this far.

Does anyone know who is on the match review panel and the tribunal?

Maybe the review panel should be a majority of past players?

I totally agree. If they havent played at the level of AFL, how are they supposed to know what goes through a players head in certain situations.

They know that in a shopping centre if you want to pick something off a shelf and someones in your way you wait for them to move.

Thats reasonable.

On the footy field if you want the get the ball and an opposition players in the way you run through them.

Also very reasonable.

Last time i heard Andrew McKay was the head of the MRP and the other members were Peter Carey and Paul Broderick.

and the Tribunal consisted of people like Michael Sexton, David Pittman and Schimma along with others.

On TV here last night one former footballer was suggesting the review panel got it wrong.
I recognised his name but I can't remember who it was now as I didn't pay much attention at the time.

Thank god they finally got it right, but it should've been thrown out to start with.
