Bass is one of those players who wasnt blessed with natural talent but left every bit of energy and ability he had on the oval each game.

Well done to Freddy and im sure he will be very successful of the field also.

Didn't need a crystal ball to see that one coming.
Freddy was a top quality backman who did the simple things well.
Congrats on a great career.

Earlier in the season I said his injury problems suggested he might be near the end, and more recently Booney I disagreed with your general dismissiveness of him, saying I thought he was still playing a useful role since his recovery. Is that what you mean by "loving" him?

I think he has made a wise and appropriate choice. Some Norwood supporters are hopeful of having him at full back there next year, but that would depend on how his body is holding up.
No I'm not particularly emotional about it. I'm not a particularly emotive type.

If you could entertain the thought of being amused for a moment or two Psyber I would suggest you will find my comments tongue in cheek...

We have offered differing opinions on Bassett in the last year or so,you appreciate him,I dont and it runs no deeper than that.

He,as mentioned, got more out of his body and natural ability than most can say they have. Not quite of the same ilk as Michael Wilson but with similar characteristics I understand why you 'love' (for want of a better word) him.

That's OK Booney. I had a similar interaction with my brother-in-law [a Power member] years ago, over a similar player, Rodney Maynard.
He had trouble respecting players from Norwood, but eventually conceded the point.

Well done to him on a excellent career. Was a good backman for the cows. With a few older players retiring it wll give a chance to alot of young players.

So Bassett and Biglands Retired.

Good to see he has made the decision himself. If he had tried to go on he may not have been afforded that luxury. He has had a good career and has got the most out of the ability he had. He did spend a fair chunk of his playing years playing on opponents that he probably shouldn't have and performed admirably. Hopefully he does spend some time at Norwood next year.
