Geelong wore their away shorts&sox AT home today v North.
WTF!?!
Is a sensible policy regarding clashing uniforms too difficult for Anderson & Demetriou?
Apparently, yes.

The same thing happened in last year's finals series
Because they already have a lot of white in the guernsey, white shorts is the path of least resistance when it comes to a clash
The only other option v NM is for the Cats to wear their navy guernsey and basically look like Carlton at Skilled Stadium. I assume the fans would prefer the hoops.
The same thing will happen in this year's GF ... you watch

It's time for Australian Rules Football to get with the real world and do the right thing:
1. The home side wears whatever they choose to wear (home strip or else a special strip of their own choice - e.g. Centenary jumper/special occasion) - Why? Because they are the home team.
2. The away side wears what does not clash ...
Collingwood, that doesn't mean white with black stripes - wear that white jumper with a black yoke that you wore in the Escort Cup game against Swan Districts in 1982 - the truth is you haven't worn black and white stripes all your lives.
An additional example is that Collingwood's origins come from the Britannia club ... a team, as the name suggests, wore red, white and blue.

Totally agree, my thoughts are that if a "Clash Guernsey" is to be used then the clubs should pick from their various selections of Heritage Guernseys.
The other thing that should be looked at is Coloured Shorts as opposed to White Shorts if appropriate. It is more in keeping with the tradition of the game and is better for the TV Audience as well!

I thought it was good that North Melbourne wore their clash guernsey and Geelong wore white shorts on the weekend. Made it easy to distinguish. Exactly what the clash guernsey's are for and it was commonsense Geelong wear white shorts given they have a lot of white in their uniform.
Clash guernsey's are a good idea. What I don't like is "away" guernsey's and the use of the non-traditional uniform when there is no clash. The only club that I wish adopted their clash guernsey as there guernsey they always wear is Fremantle. That white one looks heaps better than the purple one IMO.

You know whats funny in this day and age, players play that far apart from each other a clash "uniform" probably isnt required half the time

I would hope that one day the AFL will actually understand the concept of clash jumpers. At the moment they have absolutely no idea. For some reason, every other sport in the universe know what to do, but footy can't work it out.

Brod,
If its Hawthorn v Geelong the AFL will let the Hawks wear the brown shorts and make Geelong wear white - even tho Geelong finished top.
Why? Because white is already in Geelong's colour scheme and Hawks in white shorts will clash.
If the Hawks had a yellow shorts option it might be different.
Shorts are a big part of the clash problem IMO. Teams electing to wear white shorts when white isn't part of their colour scheme throw spanners in the works.
