ADELAIDENOW EXCLUSIVE: Crows fan Mark Haysman - the boss of SA Brewing - is the new chief executive of the Port Adelaide Football Club.

His appointment, to replace departed chief executive John James, will be confirmed at Alberton at 3pm today.

Haysman's appointment continues the theme of handing the Power's management to a corporate player.

Like James, Haysman is a graduate of the University of Adelaide – with an economics degree and major in accountancy – and has cut his teeth in the corporate world in Sydney.

Haysman, 41, returned to Adelaide from Lion Nathan's Sydney headquarters three years ago to become regional director of SA Brewing.

Like James, Haysman also has a strong corporate – rather than football – background, working as a chartered accountant with Deloitte for seven years before joining SA Brewing in 1994.

Haysman has a proven record in business strategy and marketing – vital needs at Alberton where the Power needs to increase its revenue streams, particularly from membership sales and attendances at home games.

James left the Power last month to take up an appointment in the financial sector in the United States.
