The Birdman

5AA has stated that Brett Burton has been offered 2 weeks and taken them already.
Thats a big loss, not so much this week vs richmond but in two weeks they have the Hawks in a Top 4 shaping game.
The Question is who comes in
Luke Jericho- has played well and deserves to play
Nick Gill- is underdone and only played 2 games for the roosters, but can do anything.
Ken Mcgregor- Played well for the eagles vs roosters but played at CHB
Trent Hentschel- ?????????

the answer to walker is NO they wont. James sellar will get picked before him and did play better than taylor in the Glenelg/Norwood game last week.

McGregor for full back and Rutten for CHF anyone?
[It's probably a bit too radical for the Crows to try, but next week may be the time to try it rather than use McGregor up forward.]
Alternatively, McGregor in the back pocket and Stevens in the forward pocket?
Hentschel looks a bit risky without a few more SANFL matches under his belt.
Walker still needs to strengthen and mature a bit.
Sellar at CHF maybe, but he wasn't impressive last time for the Crows. I expect Goodwin will play there.
What I fear is relying on Jericho in a forward pocket for a whole match - I'd rather give Doughty a shot at it, or put Doughty up back and bring McLeod or Johncock forward..

Ken McGregor or Jericho are more likely IMO
Gill would be the logical like-for-like swap if he was killing them at North, but he's not

Gilly should help out with the goal kicking - at his worst he's better than 14 goal 37 behinds, isn't he? Far too underdone for AFL though, from what I have heard from North people.

Gill or hentschel would be the preferred options. I understand that they are underdone at the moment but i really dont think that wil be a selection issue. Craig often bases his selection on training fitness and form, hence sellar getting the game he did. Id go with Gill will give us the mobility up the ground and trent will give us some goal scoring power. McGregors, as mentioned by others, is also in the mix.
Personally id pick hentschel. He is the better player. I dont see much point in playing McGregor. He will be gone come years end and time should be invested in future potentials. Sorry Kenny. time has passed. The 2-3 quarters we can get out of Hentschel this week could be vital in terms of our performance and sturcture against Hawthorn.
Id love to see Tex have a go but he is not ready yet. Another game with the redlegs for mine.

I think Kenny will come in but I would like to see Sellar play as a ruckman as that is what he played all though juniors and i dont believe he knows how to play a key target role. Would they put Maric forward as he has kicked a few goals for Port up there and seems to be improving every game.

Alot depends if Goody comes up or not, I haven't heard if it was a fracture or not but I don't think Adelaide would risk Hentschel,
Gill would be a good replacement but underdone,
still don't think Sellar has had any form to warrant it,
Jericho was very stiff to be dropped and he's pretty mobile,
Stevens would be a good fit but I think he might be important to pick up Richo if he plays up the ground a bit more,
Kenny would be okay and has had reasonable form with WWT, I think.
Andy Otten would be a chance also.
Playing on the MCG and assuming it would be wet and that Goody will play I'd bring in Jericho, he deserves it.
Assuming that Goody wont play I'd bring in Jericho and either Otten or McGregor.

Could even depend on something as simple as the weather ... If it's likely to be dry then I reckon Kenny probably comes in, if not I think they'll try to replace like for like (in style, not ability) by playing Jericho ... Can see both of them on the plane to Melbourne, with maybe one of them sitting out. (that said Jericho hasn't played at all for 3 weeks which could cost him)

I would play otten as they dont have three key tall forwards do they. Use Boch and Truck on the key forwards and let stevo up forward he is a very accurate kick at goal. Tip could move to CHF and play goody out of the goals square. They have lost Johnson so our younger midfielders should be able to handle a whole game on there young blokes.

getting way off topic but I've been wondering how we fit in hentschel when he's ready, surely we can't go with so many talls,
Griffen, Tippett, Maric, Hentschel?

No more top heavy than lade, brogan, treadrea, westhoff is it???
I dont agree with the concept of top heavy. The term is essentially coined through StKilda's prefferred forward setup of Gherig, Kosi, and StNick. Now look out our potential 'big 3 up forward' Tippett, Hentschel, Burton. If maric and griffen are rotated solely through the ruck, the height on the field stays the same. The difference between us and StKilda is that our three provide us with lots of mobility at ground level as far as big men go. Burton not really a tall, but plays tall. You know what im getting at.

I feel we shoud cut our losses with kenny and delist him. He has been a valiant servant for the club but the pace of afl is looking beyond him. He will be surpassed in 12 months but sellar and walker and provides us with nothing more than depth. I imagine it will be a choice between him and gill. My preference is for emu.
