SuperCoach: The Hogg Shield Thread

Postby Rik E Boy » Tue Mar 18, 2008 3:23 pm

Gentlemen,

the Hogg Shield and the Hogg Shield Division II fields have been finalised. Below is a list of competitors with a brief background and competition history. Please note that I do not have the usernames for all competitors. If your username isn't listed please post it so we know who to pay out when we have whipped your team! Or who to avoid if the unthinkable occurs.

Please note that the two leagues have competitors from three states and there are competitors from another website, AFL Online. If you have played SuperCoach before please post your history so we can update your club's 'history'.

What was everyones round 1 score? I started off with 2095.

Everyone of my players scored which was handy. Aaron Davey scoring the least.

One duck egg for me in the backline and got my scored hammered by Pearce and Mackie's clanger count. I'm hoping they hit a few more targets this weekend.

Was an emergency last week.

Had a shocking year last year and only managed 14 games. Was one of the best for the Brisbane reerves in the QAFL and i expect him to get the call up this week or next.

I thought he copped a minor injury which is why he missed. Not too sure though as I don't lay awake at nights straining to remember details about the Brisbane Lions. As Pup has mentioned he is not exactly a gun.

With REBCats I covered for my monumental mistake of selecting Zac Dawson in my initial squad by trading him for Nathan Brown who knocked up a handy score in the first round for the same price. I started the youngster on the bench as an emergency so even though he didn't get many points it beats the zero I would have got if I didn't make the trade. I had Mackie injured and Scotty Thompson was omitted by the Roos so happy to keep the back six intact.

I've got 1274 with ten to play (If Barlow plays) after taking the safe option of Dean Cox as skipper. I put Stanton on the bench and was rewarded when Palmer racked up 90 points on debut. The kid has excellent disposal and looks to be a good SuperCoach option.

My problem players are Aker who at nearly 400k is not providing value and Shannon Hurn who hasn't been brought into the midfield as much as I thought he might have been by the Eagles.

In the Magoos, Straycat Strut has 1246 with ten to play in a slightly lower scoring league with zero trades used. This has meant I'm one short with Mackie down and Thompson not selected. Very happy with the decision to bring Rioli off the bench for Tippett, and the fact that Des Headland outscored Buddy Franklin today.
