Yes Coorong,it will not be a year of too much success for the Power. We,like each and every other club before us,have found staying at or near the top for 5 or more consecutive years difficult. This season and next is about building a youthful structure around several key players, who,in their late 20's now will be there to help and be part of a successful unit once again.I predict we will finish 7th-11th,depending on luck with injuries.

7-11? You might not even get that Booney. Who do you have to come back into the back six and the midfield? Off the top of my bonce I would suggest Cornes (did one of them play last weekend??), Wanganeen, Wakelin, Wilson and Francou, good players all but you still look very light on for depth as the club has lost a lot of experience over the last few seasons. Kingsley looks like he's in trouble as well.

Your side is now relies a lot on young players and as one who knows, this will lead to a few years of yo-yo like performances. You will have the odd great win followed by a perplexing loss the next week. The Power may have 12 games at the park but two of those games are against the Cows who look pretty strong and remember that even the travel shy Catters got over the Power at Girlee Stadium last year. If you don't win more than 8 home games the finals will be a long way off for Port.

I won't knock the Power tho for two reasons. One it's only February FFS and Two I don't want GWW to come after me with any more anti-Cat threads! :D

REB

With C.Cornes a must to play CHB,Wakelin at FB,Wilson,Bishop,Chaplin (fingers crossed),and Cassisi,or perhaps S.Burgoyne or Walsh across HB,our back 6 is okay. The problem is the middle.P.Burgoyne,K.Cornes,Cassisi and with Ebert,Dew,Francou,Ezard and Mahoney filling in the gaps,we will have a lot of pressure on 3 or 4 experienced campaigners.
Our rucks are sound, with Brogan and Lade a well established and solid combination.

7th is possible,11th is nasty, but in the middle of those two probable.

I go 9th on games and %. Who am I kidding. As long as Port miss the finals, Adelaide and Woodville West Torrens make the finals, I'm happy.

Come on Mappa, an educated Pie such as yourself should have worked out by now we just don't like you! Besides, you can expect this phenomenom to decrease in direct proportion to the increase of occurence of Port's failures. Aint life grand

I take great offence at being called educated.

Because by my educated guess, we'll make the eight this year.

I think the problem lays at Mark Williams feet, he hasnt won a game (correct me if I am wrong guys) against Neil Craig ,the Crows used to be the bitch (hate saying that) after losing to the Power (boy didnt I take crap at work when we lost ,dont hear a word when power loses ),now it appears the wheel has turned guys, get used to hating the week after a local showdown.
The crows have been rebuilding since Ayres left , so I undertsand what it feels like to go through blooding younger players.
Just never give up on your team guys you are supposed to be the best supporters in the land !!

for me, Port has some serious concerns, without Wakelin there defence is very very thin, I know bishop is till to come back but at best he is a tall flanker, not a key position type and there obviously looking at Chad Cornes for a midfield role.

there forward line is strong but the question mark will be whether or not they get enough supply, they just seem to get smashed atthe stoppoages week in and week out......

losing Carr, James, Hardwick and Primus has killed them in this area..... the current crop of midfielders are more running type but don't have the prsence at the stoppages.....

In regards to the crows what stood out for me was there body size, boys like the young lad from Westies playing his first game and young skippy, they now have bodies to be able to hunt the footy, I imagine this time next year Van Berlo and Knoghts will be the same, that not to say that Knights wont be a good player this year, the kid can find the footy

Awwww not fair REB, i was thinking about what i could say about those whiskas boys, then i read the last bit down the bottom, i couldnt possibly start another anti cats thread after reading that bit where you mentioned me. So ok i wont mention about 1963 or anything like that.....gees it feels funny not being provocative with REB after reading his comments about Port :P

FFS its only February, write off or laud any team at your peril.

FWIW though I was impressed with Adelaides attack on the footy to gain possession in the 50/50s and to create the pressure for Port to turn it over. Knights and Bode good early. Obviously they pushed the handpass, missed the target and if they kicked straight.......but the key to winning footy is to get hold of the pill, haven't known a side yet to score goals when the other team has possession...Skill execution and finding the right option will come with a few games under their belt.

Knowing Choco from his time at the Bay a few of the Port boys will be getting the "please explain" today for the short steps and sideways glances when a few of the Crows boys started to show a bit of desire for the footy. Most unlike Port Adelaide.

However like I said long way to go yet, but early signs are good for the "team for all South Aussies"

Too early to write anyone off. Port will be there. My memory says, whoever starts winning games later than everyone else, usually makes the eight..?
